Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

I think this would have been true last year, but word's gotten around that Brown has some very talented players. I think Harvard will lose to Brown and beat Yale, but I don't think it's because Harvard won't be paying attention.

Lappin out, if that means anything.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

So what is it about this Harvard team that is different? Is it the team speed? Is it being healthy (Kerfoot and others missed a lot of time last year even though Sean Malone still has not suited up this year)? Is it Perl? Is it depth? This is still a very young team. The only Seniors that see the ice are Everson, McNally, and Michalek.

IMHO two words: Paul Pearl

Best of the news tonight is Teddy saying post-game that they have high hopes that Colin Blackwell will see the ice this year.

He missed all of last year with post concussion symptoms....

That is good news but only if Colin is truly healthy. I'd rather have him focusing on school and getting through the year without the symptoms affecting his ability to be an everyday student.

skate79 are you serious? demko was out with a real high temp and the backup has taken leave of absence for personal reasons. had zero to do with arrogance.

I didn't know that Demko had illness issues until after the game. And I get that BC is missing their best D man with wrist surgery and losing Arnold, Gaudreau and Hayes was a big hit (Gaudreau has really turned around Calgary in a big way). Still, no one felt sorry for us when we lost three players from the cheating scandal and Colin Blackwell was forced to the sidelines with concussion issues.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Really wish we were playing Yale on Fri night and Brown on Sat night.

Brown has trap game written all over it coming off the win @ BC.

When was the last time we referenced a game as being a 'trap' game?? I don't think the team can really afford to look past anyone at this juncture. Sure, taking three points from Union and BC on their rinks was huge. But we need to develop consistency. We've started fast in previous seasons only to fade with long losing streaks. While this weekend is important, if we take down BU and UMass-Lowell, then we've got something to talk about.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2013-2014

Seeing is believing. Watching the Crimson on TV is one thing. But being there at Bright Landry to witness what I saw tonight is a whole other level of play. Simply amazing. What a turnaround.

The biggest difference beyond the speed is the system the team is running out there. Two passes and the puck is in the offensive zone. They don't let you breathe for a second. Haven't seen this kind of transition game since the '89 team. And every line is doing it for the most part. The Brown players I think were in a state of shock and by the time they figured out what was going on, it was 4-0. I mean, three two on one break-ins while shorthanded? When was the last time you saw Harvard do that to a team? The special teams were on fire tonight. It was hilarious to keep hearing the Brown assistant coach screaming "Get back, get back". Like that was going to help.

Tyler Moy had a great night with two goals including a shortie that he roofed on a two on one. Criscuolo's goal on the power play off the give and go with Vesey was a gem. That first line is filthy. Michalek had a very good night in goal. The game was wide open with not a lot of hitting or board play. Harvard played very well at both ends in the first period but gave Brown too many chances as the game went on. They'll have to tighten up considerably for BU and UMass Lowell.

Bring on the Eli. I'm sorry that I'll have to miss tomorrow night's game but such is life and social commitments.

Yale was undefeated against harvard last year. That ends tonight! Let's go Harvard.

IMO Yale is also very good, better than their record. Style wise and speed wise I think both teams match up well. Should be one H*LL of a Game and will probably be close, especially if Lyons steps up.

and i'm not expecting you to feel sorry for BC
