Re: Harvard Crimson 2012-2013
My blog entry on Saturday's game is
here.
A few other thoughts pertinent what others have mentioned:
- The Bentley uniforms were a sports-information nightmare. I felt bad for the guys in the press box, especially at Bright with the offending party shooting twice at the far end of the building. I mean it with all sincerity when I say that dark numbers on dark jerseys should be outlawed by the NCAA.
- Harvard definitely took too many penalties in the third period, but the elbowing call on Hart looked suspect, at least on the Internet stream, without the benefit of replays from different angles. He caught Tyler Krause with his head down and the puck between his skates. I didn't see an elbow, and if there had been one, it would have likely been a major and more, considering the vulnerability of the player. There was a scrum following the play, but it appeared only unrelated to that hit. As he got up, Krause high-sticked Tommy O'Regan in the face (well, the cage) after the whistle, and O'Regan went after him.
- I agree with the Vesey-Killorn comparison (at least with this small sample size), with the big body, No. 19 jersey and same spot on the power play. Vesey and Greiner have combined to fit in to Killorn's old roles nicely.
- I think how well Bentley was playing prior to this game has been understated. That, and the fact that Harvard hasn't been able to get opening wins the last couple years, is cause for optimism. Then again, Harvard's 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons started with promising wins and did not end well, so there's a long way to go.
