Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

If anyone is interested I noticed that some of the UofM season ticket holders with good seats are posting their tickets for sale. I see an invasion of NMU fans at Yost. Latest ones posted are for Saturday night Section 9, Row 5, which is the end we shoot on in two periods. Here's the link:

So tempted to go Friday night.... How's the area around I-94 south of the U of M campus... Found some cheap hotels there...

You can also contact the NMU ticket office, as there are always tickets held for the visiting fans. They might not be the greatest seats, but it's still an option.

Im thinking of going....but I dont know.

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

I wouldn't sit in the seats that UofM gives visiting fans. They are nosebleeds (I've been up there a couple times). I would go open market especially with the season they are having. Good seats can be had for face value or lower. As for getting a hotel, I usual snag something on Priceline pretty cheap (bid your own) and cheap food can be had if you use www.restaurant.com. Hope this helps!

That's probably the area to go. The post-game reception after the Friday game (for Wildcat Night 2010) is at Damon's, which is in that general area (walkable if you stay in one of the many hotels on Boardwalk/Victors Way), so I'd imagine that's where most of the other Northern fans would be staying. Yost is a straight shot down State St. about 2 miles.

There's a couple hotels on the east side of state st. just north of I-94, I can't remember how expensive they are, but they can't be to bad. The area is nice... heck, most of ann arbor is nice, just don't go to Ypsi.

Horrible. terrible. worst area of ann arobor.... ;)

on top of Damons, there's also a host of the chain sit down places on S. State.

And if my wife doesn't sell our Saturday tickets, we may have some available in section 10, row 4.

I don't recall seeing this on the thread, but if it was I'll ask again anyway:p

Any injury updates for this weekend davyd?

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

Judging by the way the UM fans are talking, it sounds like we have a good chance at sweeping or at the very least taking one from Michigan. Historically, I think we've always played some of our best hockey vs. Michigan.

Anyone remember back in 2000 or 2001 when K-wall shutout the Wolverines on Fox Sports? Boy was that a great game!

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

I barely remember that game. The 2005 game at Yost on FSN where Olver and Murphy made Montoya look like a scrub was pretty good too. I have that one on DVD. :D

I do remember that Kowalski had one Hell of a record in Yost.

Oh and here are some stats for this weekend:
NMU vs UM all time: 17-31-5
At the BEC: 6-10-3
At neutral sites: 1-8-0
At Yost: 10-13-2

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

Exactly Aparch, that is why I said we had a better record at Yost than anyone except Michigan.

This is really one of those weekends where anything can happen: sweep, swept, split, or shoot out W/L. The damaged pride of big brother makes for formidable opponent. God knows the Cats will earn any points they can aquire this weekend.

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

The game in November 1997 at Lakeview Arena was arguably the best Northern Michigan/Michigan game, we won 1-0 with a goal from Freddy Mattersdorfer! I've never seen the home crowd since then make so much cheer. I miss the old Lakeview days, the days of Vigier, Smith and Trudeau line, hahah. Remember that game Kujo and Mojo?

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

Smith out

On his radio show Monday, Walt said Fox was going to miss this series too. Apparently injured Saturday night.

I'm taking all this "oh, woe is me" chatter from the Michigan fans with a grain of salt. Until the Cats prove it on the ice this weekend, I see the Wolverines with a huge advantage at home. I guess the NMU-UNO series is too fresh on my mind to have a lot of confidence right now.

This is arguably one of the most important regular season series the Cats have been in for some time.

GO CATS!!!

I remember that game. I remember a game vs. Tech where we scored with just a few seconds left and the crowd was INSANELY loud as well.

The first time we played Coach Comley and MSU there was a very large and loud crowd. I think the final of that one was 10 or 9-3.

Interesting note: Michigan has been to only 1 shootout in the near two years since its start. That was against Alaska this year at Yost, where Alaska took the shootout 1-0. So, Michigan has never won a shootout, and has also never scored in the shootout.
