Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

I think this weekend will go a long way in seeing where NMU will finish in the standings. The most important thing is- Do NOT get swept. Michigan is 2 points behind us in the standings. If we split, they do not gain any ground. The wonderful thing for Northern is that UNO, in their last CCHA series, is playing Miami this weekend, and Alaska is playing LSCC. Itd be nice for that series to go to shootouts on both nights. As for any dream at third place, FSU and MSU are playing each other this weekend (and both are tied for 2nd with 43 points). Pray that one team sweeps the other.

The 'Cats have played very well this 2nd half with the expection of Omaha. You learn a lot about how your team responds after big losses, and so far NMU has done great.

I was being serious. I've made it clear that my opinion of him has changed and my views of him were scewed.

I understand. I just had a large Laugh Out Loud after the last year and a half (not from you, just others that may no longer be with us).

I'm looking forward to meeting most of you when we make it to a regional this year. I sure hope it's Minnesota so there a large contingent of NMU fans. I'm 50-50 on making it to the Joe.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves now...

One weekend at a time and we'll see how things shake down. We still have a long ways to go in the Pairwise to be talking about the NCAAs.

**** the PWR.

It keeps changing, it's in flux. The only time it's going to be solid and accurate will be 10am March 21st. :p

That said, we're still mired around 20th, with definite room for improvement depending how our opponents opponents do.

I hope it's not, because I want to watch somebody better than Northern Michigan play.

LOL!!!!! :D

I feel better. Focus on this week, take care of business, and play like there is no tomorrow.. ;)

LETS GO CATS!!!!

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

A little off topic but,

for those that go early to the games and see the 'Cats come out for warm-ups what is that song that is played when the Cats first come on the ice? Its killing me that I dont know it. It sounds a lot like Queens of the Stone Age...

Re: Hail! To those... NMU at Michigan, 2/19-2/20

That can be attributed to our fantastic Coach Walt Kyle!

He's got my vote for Coach of the Year!

Good thing we didn't fire him and hire that 3rd week Ohio State assistant or the LSSU assistant like you wanted!:D :p

As for the PWR, if NMU wins 3 of 4, their RPI could move up to #17 heading into the playoffs...not a bad spot to be sitting...

That was that other toolbag, not me that wanted those guys.

What happens when we win 4 out of 4?

Bottom line, don't count on it.

I have to agree with MOJO here. 3-5-4 in league road games makes me think a split this weekend is the best case scenario. But unfortunately, I'm not holding my breath. The Wolverines will come out flying the first period to prove to themselves last week was a fluke. Stewart and the rest of the team better hang on for an onslaught Friday night.

OK, forgive my ignorance, but I haven't had my coffee yet. Playoff games in the conference tourny count for PWR, right?

I think cheering for Tech and Duluth is in order as well. Id say cheer for Minnesota some extent, but if they win all their games, I think they can over take us in the RPI. But for now, go teams!

Tech faces Denver and Wisconsin in their next two series. They're not hoping for much, but they did stun UMD two weekends ago with a win on Friday and lead 2-0 at one point on Saturday before falling 3-2.
Minnesota is, I hate to say it, flailing a bit.
Duluth is rolling, they could really help us a lot.

Here's an interesting read: http://playoffstatus.com/cchahockey/cchastandings.html
Seems like our best shot is for 4th, and we control our own destiny to that point. 3rd is a slight option, but we'll need help.

Yes. Part of the reason a 3rd place game can be controversial. It's still early to be looking at pairwise as plenty can still happen. (oh, and it depresses me this year)

Maybe. I think Michigan will come out and play 15-20 minutes of hockey on Friday night. I don't know which period they'll decide to play, but I think it will only be one. Please let me be proven wrong

Saturday I'm not even going to guess on.

Ah, yes. Now I remember. 2008--Notre Dame had to win or lose the 3rd place game to make the NCAA's. Tie and they were out.

And I realize it's early, but it's still amusing to speculate.
