Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Me to sometimes...and that is how I really feel :D

This thread is full of win :)

I know, right? (phrase that makes me wanna punch something; commence beating that phrase further into the ground; yes that is how I really feel, and it IS my own)

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Talking on the phone is nothing but a time saver. That is how I really feel, and I will each my own.

I hate talking on the phone, except in rare cases. There are maybe 2-3 people outside of my family that I can talk to on the phone. And even then (in all cases)...

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

So yeah, I've had my cell phone for at least 18 months now. Nevertheless, I still get collection calls for the number's previous owner, Precious Zammaripa (no clue on the spelling of that last name). Normally I just tell the people it's a recycled number, may take 2-3 times, and they stop calling until they sell the debt off to the next guys for pennies on the dollar, which at this point, her debt must be being bought for about a penny considering how many different agencies I've gotten calls from.

Today was the first time I've ever dealt with one of the true scum-sucking collection agencies, though. The guy flat out lied to me, saying he had talked to Precious on my number last week. I'm almost hoping they keep calling despite my telling them off and sending an immediate cease and desist letter, as I'd love to make some quick cash for the FDCPA violations.

Might as well, they're going to harrass you with that BS, might as well pin em to the wall.

They made a movie about her. I didn't watch it.

Best part is I'd incur no legal expenses, either. I'm a law clerk. Any suit I file is just on-the-job training. :D

My father worked collections for years...once you inform them this is not her number they are not supposed to call you anymore. In fact they can get in trouble for doing so. (they agent and the company/firm) that they call multiple times before stopping is pretty bad.

Yeah, I could've nailed some of the other ones, but they were never dicks about it, and I wasn't going to get some minimum wage schmuck fired simply because he couldn't enter something into his computer system right the first time.

But when you start out by lying to me (and worse, accusing me of lying to you on top of it)...screw you. You aren't getting the benefit of the doubt.

Keep a log of who called when. Names, numbers, agencies, time of call, notes about the call, everything. Go full on RFAlph. Even better, record the calls. Check the laws of your state on recording phone calls. Most are one-party, which means they don't require you to notify the other party they're being recorded (some do.) These come in handy if you need to get an attorney for FDCPA.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

I work for a school district and we occasionally apply for grants to get extra funding. In 99% of these cases, we have to include the exact item and prices of the items we plan to purchase with the grant money. I have no problem with that, although it does cause some extra headaches with companies I order the products from. One such company has quite possibly the worst sales rep in the world.

I requested a quote from them more than a month ago. The rep came to town and visited, bought us lunch, etc. However, it took him more than a month to get me a quote. This quote included 8 different add-ons that we didn't request. He also added a bunch of extra wording to no-doubt try and confuse me. Obviously, I've done my research on the products and pointed out all of the extra crap he put on the quote. He acted all confused and said he didn't realize he had included them. He then resent me a quote after a couple days. The price had already dropped more than 30%.

Since I'm in a school district, I have to bid out these items. So I called another company yesterday to request a secondary bid. I received an email today with the quote. The sales person said he unfortunately couldn't give me a competitive price, because of rules with the company that makes the product. Their price came in another 10% lower than the revised quote from the first company. Talk about "not being competitive."

So I emailed the first sales rep to tell him I had emailed the second company and got a price significantly lower than the crap pricing he was giving me. He recently replied saying "I didn't realize you were already at the bid stage. Had I known, I would have given you a better price." So what I've learned is that this guy would have gladly charged us an extra $12,000 for a bunch of crap we didn't need had I not done my research. After that, he still would have charged us an extra $2,500 had I not bid out the item. I'm to the point where I'm going to call the company that makes the product and request they amend their rules about competing local companies. I shouldn't have to buy from the guy who is trying to rip me off because I happened to contact him first. I'm planning on never buying from him ever.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

My company did some re-organizing of sorts in the past month or so. Consolidated 5 branches/1 distribution center down to 1 branch/1 distribution center. Some Twin Cities folks just may have heard the endless commercials on 93X/Jack 104 (by the way, I'm going to punch "Karen" right in the babymaker).

Anyway, you would think that corporate would realize that all the business from those 4 other branches coming to the distribution center (where I am located) would require additional workers. We've hired 3 of the (I think) 5 positions. And we're still losing ground. Consider that they also transferred 10 to the sales counter (walk up/will call; they are considered separate from us, we don't work with them/vice versa) and we get 5. It really should be the other way around, not kidding.

Tonight alone I think we paid out about 30-35 manhours of OT. Translate that to regular paid hours.....hmmmm, there's a couple part-time positions right there. And I repeat, those hours were just for tonight. Corporate needs to get their arse up here and see WTEff is going on and actually adjust accordingly.
