Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

When I was a kid, I once spent three weeks in August visiting my grandparents, who live in SW Florida. Every *ing day was 90-95 degrees. A pack of thunderstorms would roll in, like clockwork, at 3:30 PM each day, then just as quickly the heat would return for another 4-5 hours. It's the most predictable, boring, and (in my opinion) miserable weather ever. You have to really loathe the cold (even a slight chill at night) to put up with it eight months out of the year.

Had the exact experience when I was 14. Cured me of ever wanting to be a 'snowbird'

Have been to Orlando twice, a week each time. The bolded/underlined/italicized is so true. Hence, no F4 Tampa. F* FLA. And yes, their heat/humidity top MN's easily, just for consistency.

MN is "tough" to live in BECAUSE of the drastic changes in weather. Down there? It's never NOT hot/humid. ;)

You are going to skip a weekend of hockey due to what you think the weahter is like? Seriously?

It's not as if you are going to move there.

wow.

Don't worry, we've all already ripped him for his stupidity in regards to this.

That's just part of the reason. I've never wanted to go to Tampa Bay; I've already been to FLA; so why go now?

Lets see, considering where this board is, maybe, just perhaps, as a possibility... HOCKEY!?!?!?

It's only 3 days in Tampa. Which is much like spending 3 days in St. Paul. You'd survive.

(and I'm taking a curise prior to the FF, so Mexico is on my itinerary.)

Ouch! :D

If I had money and time, I'd go. Worst case scenario, you spend the off-day at the beach in Clearwater. April in FL is alright, it's May to October that sucks for weather.

If it is too hot and humid to sit on a beach and swim in the Gulf of Mexico, you have issues. :p

So I think we're all in agreement here that Brent and his stupid attitude Grinds our Gears even more than heat and humidity, right? :p

The medical/insurance industry can go eff itself with a rusty spork...

Back in March, I spent 3 days in the hospital... Since then, my insurance and the hospital have been a total sh*t show when dealing with my bills... It's been things like the insurance saying that they will cover A, B, and C but not D and E... Insurance says D and E will not be covered because they are items that I should have requested other options on... One of those options is a "private" hospital room... At no point did I request this when I was in the hospital... I was too sick and out of it to do so, and to make a big deal about not being put in there... I just went where they put me... Had a big fight with insurance over this...

So now I get a new billing statement: A and D are covered, but B, C are not now, and E still isn't... According to this, I owe about triple what I originally owed... I am at the point to where I want to seriously stab people from my insurance and the hospital... I shouldn't have to hire an accountant to keep track of this sh*t... Add in that you get bills from 19 different doctors, laboratories, and departments... I just want to scream right now... I am at a point where I am almost willing to tell the medical industry to go eff itself next time I get sick... I am barely making it by financially, and medical bills are going to sink me if this continues... Right now, I don't see why this is so **** complicated to figure out... THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GET THEIR **** TOGETHER :mad::mad:

They don't need to do anything. The longer they play this game, the longer the money is in their pocket. Remember this is business. There are no ethics, or very little

Call the Dr that you were admited under and see if they have been asked to fill anything out. I have to fill out stuff all the time (primary care) and they are ridiculous. Sometimes they lose things 2-3 times. Recently I got someone arguing with me about ordering a cardiac test for someone with atypical chest pain. I lost it when they pulled me out of a room to ask me the same info the nurse had just spent 25 minutes reviewing or they wouldn't authorize the test. After I asked the Dr in a not so polite way if they would mind giving me their name so I could document in the chart that they delaying a timely standard work up I got the authorization with no further questions needed. Idjits~!

Call the attorney general of your state, the insurance company ombudsman, the hospital ombudsman. Ask for everything to be sent to you in writing, write everything down when you are talking to them. Take names, numbers and the center where they are speaking to you from (sometimes they are in different states). Send a letter of confirmation that this is what has been confirmed by that conversation. Don't waste your time talking to the lower level folks. Ask for a supervisor.

Also talk to your primary office. They may be able to facilitate. I know we can't directly change hospital stuff but we call the insurace and shake their tree.

I hate medicine for profit. It is a shiz show.

When someone says "Tell us how you really feel".

That line drives me crazy. It isn't funny. Just stupid.
