Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

I said OE not Colt 45.

I agree with collegehcky2. OE is suburban gangsta. Colt 45 is the real deal. ;)

Just bring her cheese curds. She's gonna be hungry, even if she just ate. Just sayin'.

Office politics/uncertainty are grinding my gears. I may have a new position of sorts at work, I'm assuming those duties this week apparently, BUT:

1. Dunno if it is going to be permanent, no one is saying anything.
2. Rumors are flying around, some from trusted sources, some not.
3. It could (and probably will, for a while) throw a big wrench in certain work relationships between 2 bosses and 2 co-workers.

I wish this would just get resolved, or at least be talked about. It's not exactly helping my usually low stress level.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Working a table with one of my fellow demonstrators today, and around 2:20, she asks my boss if she can take her break early. My boss says fine, just as long as she was back by 3 PM so I can take my break. So my coworker goes on her break and doesn't return for an hour. When I asked my coworker where she was, she spun a line about how she was helping everyone and how she had to say hi to certain people. I'm thinking "if any of this is true, then I'm the world's fattest man..."

While I have managed to overlook the antics of the overpaid lazy union snowplow drivers, I have now turned my wrath on the overpaid lazy union sidewalk snowblower. While there was 3-4" of snow on the roadway, the recreational jogging (I think the "j" is silent) trail was being expeditiously cleared by not only an overpaid union sidewalk snowblower........but an accompanying overpaid lazy union tractor-with-rotating-brush-thingy driver. So the two people that will be using a recreational trail for their morning commute will have better conditions than the other several thousand people sliding sideways down the hillsides.

Idiots.

Old heating system- grinding my gears. It is 57 in my house and the furnace has decided to die. It is already 21 out and going down to about 10. There is a blizzard in the offing in the next few days. Yay. We have a fireplace but the wood is under 2+ feet of snow because it (the fireplace doesn't have a good enough draft to keep the smoke out. Grr.
Mr. not wanting to call anyone that might know someone who could help really grinding my gears. W T F. I ended up calling folks because he wants to stare at the furnace and I don't know what. He can't fix it so why won't he call someone? Is this a guy thing or what?

Um, that is "winter rules." Highways are different, sure, but when in doubt, you drive down the middle, 4WD or not, until lane divisions are clear, etc etc. You don't want to hit the shoulder/curb, and you don't want to cross the double-yellow line. Pretty obvious if you ask me.

And when you see the *hole coming up behind you, move over to a lane to allow him to pass. Then resume being the ignorant jerk who can't figure out which lane to drive in when it's snowing. :p

...because 4WD won't help if you hit ice or if you're driving like a jerk. And I'm saying this as someone who drives a 4WD truck.
4WD just gets you stuck further in the snow then FWD vehicles. :D

I used to work in a bad part of Minneapolis and live in North Minneapolis, not one person was ever drinking Colt 45. Plastic Bottle Vodka like Silver Wolf...yes. Old English...you bet. Colt 45 is about as ghetto as Lando is.

Bosses that feel the need to micro-mange, It's my design let me design it my way. What especially gets me is how all day he complains how he's always so busy.

Bosses that feel the need to micro-manage.

This.

1. You have hired people below you to take care of the little things.
2. You have hired people below them to take care of the littler things, and the people from Point #1 to take care of the people from Point #2.

It's terrible.

But when the little things don't get done well or at all...babysitting can become necessary.

American Express is Grinding my GEARS!! Posted the payment and they rec'd it 9 days after I sent it. Get a bill with a 15 dollar late fee and 1.61 in interest for the bill of 33.98 that I tried to pay on time. The first guys answer~ call and pay by phone. My answer- get the supervisor. After getting a lecture on posting my bills on time and things get lost in the mail I went off. I pay off every bill I get in full. Have never been late and have never run a balance. I told him cx the card. Am I sure? You bettcha, if you are going to charge me 50% of what I paid and you posted late my hx shows I never run a balance and you aren't going to wave a fee one time then where is the benefit of having this card? Grudgingly waved the fee and interest. I have lots of other credit cards. Never had an issue with them. GRRRRR!

Premptive grinding of gears...cashed in a bunch of old savings bonds this year that my grandparents and godfather had given me over the years. The teller apparently 1)misspelled my name and more annoyingly 2) entered the wrong taxpayer ID (Soc. Sec. #). Looks like they put it under one of my grandparents or godfather's SSN (which were on some of the bonds) instead of mine.

Just got the 1099-INT today and noticed all of this. Wouldn't really worry about it, except I don't want my godfather or my parents (since my grandparents are now dead, and they were exeutors of their relative estates) to have to deal with the hassle in case the IRS goes after whoever's SSN got used.

I'm gonna have loads of fun over the next weeks/months trying to get that fixed, aren't I? Especially since the bank's located in Omaha and I'm now in Des Moines, so I can't just waltz in in person. I forsee hours on the phone, lots of scanning/faxing/mailing of things, etc. Grrrrrrr....

I actually started paying online exclusively now. So I know when they are going to receive it. I also have a hard copy of each payment printed out for records if their system blows up.

Also, check your credit report in a few months to make sure that they didn't screw you over that way.

I get that a lot from managers who have never done my job. Those who can, do...those who can't.......
