I blame flash. Seriously. Outside of Adobe Acrobat 6.0, flash is some of the worst code perpetrated on the human race.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Whiners who expect other people to do all the work.

I'm on a board for my alma mater, and one of the areas is all about facilities- now I fully recognize that my school has some of the worst facilities for a D-1 school- the football stadium can hold 15k max. But I also see that non-state funding for a new stadium is probably fairly light in that part of the country, and I kinda liked the dome, anyway...

But there's two posters over there who daily complain about the fact that not only are the facilities inferior, there's no real plan to upgrade them. Every day. As if someone is magically going to be able to change that overnight based on their demands.

And when one (me, in particular) challenges them to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, as in work, instead of getting blisters on their fingertips, they say it's the AD's fault, and that we all lack vision, and bla bla bla....

Why is it so hard to actually do work toward what you really want out of your school? Vs. just ranting (I call it whining) every single day.

What am I doing about it? Nothing for the stadium- I'm more concerned about the college of engineering, so I'm doing my best to get them a grant from the company I work for. It's not huge $$, but it's darned good, especially for a smaller school like that.

Come on. I've had maybe one encounter with him ever and I know he went to Idaho.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Yes, it's Idaho...I thought everyone knew that, especially with the way he loathes Boise State. :p

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Don't they have something like the 3rd best football team in the country? :D

Right along side with the 120th best D1 academics. :p

(there are 117 teams, right?)

Seriously, I ran the numbers once, during an argument- if I were a student at BSU and saw all of the athletic spending and then looked at the instructional spending, I'd be protesting along the river front. It's a pretty stunning difference in spending in Boise vs. Moscow for the students.

but but but, they have a blue football field!!!11!!!!1!!!!!

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

I'll confirm with this one, since it does mention how much I loathe Bozo State Community College. :D
Hey, I've been there. (Moscow, not Boise) My daughter toured there and WSU when she was looking for a school. I liked both schools, but she decided to stay back east.

Re: Grinding Away..Things that grind your gears, part three

Why do you hate the workers, Comrade Handyman?

I am an American ****IT! We do not bow to your communist tricks! YOU WILL NOT DESTROY OUR FREE MARKET!!

Unless you can convince me that Sean Connery will be the new Lenin...then I am in!

"We will pass through the American patrols, past their sonar nets, and lay off their largest city, and listen to their rock and roll... while we conduct missile drills."

Ahhh. I did not know this. I just assumed since he lives so close to Yost and seems to come across as a Michigan fan that he'd be talking about one of the other Michigan schools. My bad.

(shh- I went to both... we'll keep it our secret- I have both an Idaho and a Michigan jersey for the posters game)
