Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Still ****ed.
I've been dreading the day that the complete and utter lack of a pass rush doomed this team. Last year, the D got better as the season progressed. This year it didn't and it was only a matter of time before it bit us. Any QB can pick apart a secondary when he has all day to do it. That's why I'm not too upset or bummed about the loss. In a way, this team didn't deserve to win it all IMO.

I kept saying in the last game they might as well drop 10 in coverage and have 1 guy spy the qb. No matter how many they sent from where, they were always blocked.

I'd f tag Wells, not Flynn, unless they can sign Wells before f/a opens. Wells is more important to next year than Flynn's draft pick, even if the draft pick ends up with 17 sacks. Wells in the lynch pin to keeping Arog healthy.

Well, I guess Nike has finally figured out that radical re-invention is not the same thing as improvement. Potential aesthetic disaster averted.

Also, how about the Free Agency period so far? Replacing wells with Saturday, plenty of action on the d-line... I guess Thompson is providing some pleasant surprises as well.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

It would be nice to have a "new-age" alternative jersey. If it sucks, it sucks, but at least something cool that isn't necessarily the same old-school throwbacks.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

I don't mind the approach of using throwbacks to mine the team's history (when you've got it, flaunt it). Really, my only complaint with the current set of thirds is that they didn't really do a good job of trying to replicate the leather helmet look, but I give them effort points on the idea.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

If there was a '3rd' noted I guess I missed it. I was referring to GB not messing with a classic for the everyday uniform.

I believe they wear the original Packers jerseys as their third. Those ugly blue and yellow Michigan ripoffs.

Pretty much. There's a pretty good history of the look at this website here.

Thanks. Nice site. Those proposed mid-90s jerseys are fugly. FWIW, I don't think they should have a third. Or have a third and only wear it for certain games during anniversary seasons or some special occasion. I don't like the idea of having a third and wearing it every fourth game over the period of multiple seasons - kind of like what the bears do with the orange jerseys (as an example). Just my opinion though; I'm sure there are thousands that would disagree.

Dude was a BEAST against the Badgers. I LOVE this pick!

Defense getting much needed help.

The safety the Pack drafted from UMaine is an animal. He is one hard working guy. I wish the Pats had got him

I saw a list of all our picks and said to myself, "Maine?!". Looking forward to what this guy and our other picks bring to last year's much maligned defense.
