Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Seven Packers in the Pro Bowl:

Green Bay Packers (7)
Greg Jennings, wide receiver
* John Kuhn, fullback
* Clay Matthews, outside linebacker
B.J. Raji, interior lineman
* Aaron Rodgers, quarterback
Scott Wells, center
* Charles Woodson, cornerback

Has Raji really had that good of a year? Or is he just the least penalized NT in the conference?

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

I predict a Lions romp as the Packers have nothing to play for, will be trying to avoid injuries, and won't want to show a potential playoff foe too much of their hand. Oh, yeah... and the Lions are pretty good.

Various reports have Flynn starting today. Bulaga, Cobb, Jennings, Starks are out; Woodson and Matthews are banged up and will get rested; Butterfingers Finley is reportedly in McCarthy's dog house. And Pickett is back.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

The only reason I cared about today even a little bit is that fun 20 year streak for the Lions in WI but since the Packers are treating it with less care than any preseason game I ever recall you have to consider the streak still alive after today. I sold my tickets to this game a few weeks ago for double face. One of the better financial decisions I've made in a while.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

That was fun. Not that I'm failing to use the money on something decent when I sold today's 4 for almost double face, but it would have been cool to be there. I haven't missed many Packers-Lions games in Wisconsin. I was at the one in 1991 when the Lions last won here.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

If the Lions Lambeau losing streak was a person it could legally drink today.

Also, strange the franchise record for TDs will be held by a back up.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

I'll figure out a good title for the offseason thread since the NFL season has now officially ended. Some losses hurt. This one barely did because it was fully earned. There isn't another team in the NFL they would have beaten today. I hate the Giants organization and anyone who roots for them with every fiber of my being. **** them. I hope the 49ers put such a beating on them they won't even remember they played today's game.

I'll be honest, this is the kind of game that will make you irrationally want to never see certain players wear the uniform ever again.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Ugh. Being allergic to maintaining contact with the football is never going to win you many football games. Giants played well but the Packers handed it to them on a silver platter.

Such as Mr. Finley? Can't put big money into that guy for multiple years.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

On the bright side...

Our lifetime quota of Hail Marys being successful against our football teams should be more than exhausted after these two football teams' seasons.

Hail Marys? Serously?

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

Also - Thompson's reprieve from criticism is over.

How good would Julius Peppers have looked on that field yesterday?

Need some more pass rush for next season and we might have to get it in *gasp* free agency!

Packers management will never admit that they really miss Cullen Jenkins. He was a leader on the field and in the locker room. His desired price was high and length of contract was long for his age. Probably was the most difficult FA decision last offseason.

Re: Green Bay Packers 2011 season thread

That team, including the coach, was about as focussed as my ADD crazed 12 yr old son yesterday. NY was so ready for that onside kick, ***? Crosby should be able to see them NOT turn and run, and then try to kick it kind of deep at the last second. And then there's the "Brett Beilima call a timeout so the other team can chuck it into the endzone" move.

GB has like 5 TE on the roster, see ya Sir Drops Alot.

Hail Mary, Mother of pain,
Why do you crush my heart?
Cursed are you among sports,
and cursed is the play named for you.
Unholy Mary, mother of gutwrenchedness,
Stay out of my football life
Now and forever and ever and ever.
Amen.
