Too many clicks. They werent going to stop it until they absolutely had too. When people wearing Q shirts were destroying the capitol they knew they had exposure issues. When people were posting the videos on their services they knew they had to start banning it or it could get real ugly.

While I applaud them that is like saying "we will now give a breathalyzer to all our pilots" after a drunk one crashes a plane.

I will say this. If it’s true about Trump being even tangentially responsible for tens of % of their traffic, that’s like saying 3M is going to stop selling Post-it’s, command, and Scotch tape. Times 10. They’re talking about cutting off a few dozen percent of clicks and thus ad revenue. That’s NOT an easy choice.

a fine balance between their fiduciary responsibilities and the social contact we’re all bound by. I don’t envy them for having to make that decision.

Trump, for better or worse, got people using their apps and generating ad revenue. He’s much less important to their revenue outlooks now that he’s finally conceded the election.

I wonder if some of these republican members of congress (many of them no smarter than the average MAGAt) realize that had this mob gotten a little further a little quicker, many of the MAGAts would have had no idea who a lot of the individual members were. They could easily have harmed or killed a republican member of congress, maybe even one of their own. While that thought is nice to ponder, one would think these loonies would realize that trump endangered them all, the complicit law enforcement officers who stood down or helped direct insurgents in useful directions endangered them all, and the handful of republicans who put the whole thing into motion endangered them all.
