trump's actions are designed to gin up his base. What do you think will happen when fully half of this country believes elections are rigged? We're very nearly there now.

We're also lucky the world isn't as scary a place republicans have been painting it for forever now. Because today the executive branch is rudderless, at best.

If we were to face an actual military attack right now we'd be more vulnerable than at any time since before we built the military industrial complex. We're also lucky that so much of our federal government runs on inertial power because again, there is no leadership happening. trump has not been very good at doing his job as president on his best days. But for the last few months (ever since he said he got COVID) he hasn't even been TRYING to do his job. We are incredibly vulnerable right now, and part of me thinks trump and the traitors WANT an attack of some sort.

Ummm they already do? This would add nothing even the narratives he is using are mostly recycled. If he leaked this he is playing -5D Chess because he gains nothing and literally risks everything.

Which means they have more reason to be violent to anyone in GA running the elections- which are mostly from the racist party.

Yea, I think he did it on purpose to further rile up his base to incite violence, with the hope to lead to Marshal Law. Not that it will change anything other than him being his dream authoritarian leader.

The thing that makes me shake my head even more- there's ZERO interest in actually leading this country. Nada, nothing, zero- more negative, as he's golfing more than he is trying to make people mad and turn around the election. Which means he just wants to be a useless authoritarian leader OR he's making cash off of our tax dollars and needs to keep that up. Or both.

He's not going to go away, but he will be reduced to just make money grifting the people who can't think on their own- few real people will be interested in spending money on him or his properties.

The Republican Party is infested with craven opportunists,the kind of people who will try to tell us later that they were “just asking questions,” that they were “defending the process,” and of course, that they were merely representing “the will of the people.” Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz are not idiots. These are men who understand perfectly well what they are doing.

The real solution will come after all of these schemes fail. Voters must not take the bait and try to tinker with hasty legal and constitutional fixes. These, too, will fail to contain a party that is determined to destroy legal and moral norms in the pursuit of raw power. The better course is to turn our attention to the business of governing, while vowing to drive every member of the sedition caucus out of our public life, both through the ballot box and by shunning their enablers.

I did because of a couple of reasons. One, trump is an idiot and if leaking does him more harm than good, he might still do it because he is an idiot and can't comprehend the potential damages. The man can't think beyond his own reach, we all know that. Secondly, just the way the recording sounded, as John Dean pointed out. But there are technical explanations for why the audio sounded as it did. I can certainly believe, based on what the Georgia SOS went through with Graham that he would want the call recorded and he would want it out there.

Trump is deranged but not that deranged. There was no universe where he or any of his cronies would have thought releasing the tape would be a benefit...he cant play victim if he is the strong man. He tried to make it sound like the SOS was ignoring his pleas on Twitter...you dont do that if you are going to release a tape of you acting like a strong man trying to blackmail someone.
