Got Snow?

Re: Got Snow?

Federal News Radio is indication that the Metro is going to be underground only tomorrow... if that happens then I think its obvious what will happen for work... the only question will be about Friday... would not be shocked if they make Friday Unscheduled leave just so that the number of days don't pile up... but i think if they did that there are other problems that are much more resource in nature.

edit: the federal gov't inside the beltway is closed for Thursday

Jesus Christ. Learn to handle a little snow. This is ridiculous.
Didn't bother Fox News' Major Garrett one bit! :D

You know... I'd take off on what they said a bit... I'd build a snowman and then cue up for the next interview and do it off camera while focusing on the snowman.

Re: Got Snow?

Not in NY. I was hoping for more. :(

Yeah, in CT we probably got about 10 inches, but not what I was expecting. And it was warm, so everything that fell during the day didn't really make a mess of the roads or anything. Not nearly what was being predicted.

Re: Got Snow?

My parents seem to think Westminster, MD got the worst of the snow storm. They got another 2 ft yesterday. My dad says the snowbanks they've made from clearing the driveway are 8-10 ft tall. I'm not sure if the blind man is exagerrating or not. I look forward to pictures.

Normally I make fun of my high school friends still in MD because they complain about an inch or two of snow, but what they've gotten over the last week sounds pretty awful.

My parents are hoping to fly to Texas tomorrow. Hopefully the airport will be open.

If you've gotten 4.5 feet of snow in 4 days it has to go somewhere... usually that somewhere is up.

I remember digging out from the Blizzard of '93... 3 feet of snow... good lord did that suck. When you're 4-4.5 feet tall you get to be a bit overwhelmed.

'96 seemed like more shoveling to me. Of course, I had two friends sleeping over from a birthday party that got stuck there the whole week, so my parents had the advantage of 4 kids shoveling them out.

Apparently in Baltimore they've just been dumping snow into the Inner Harbor, but then dumping crap there is probably a time-honored tradition for the city.

Re: Got Snow?

I've grown impatient waiting for pictures from friends in my hometown, so I checked the online version of the paper.

Found this (from the Carroll County Times):
"1 a.m. Thursday: It appears most areas in Carroll received between 21 and 26 inches of snow from this storm. The unofficial reports from the National Weather Service are as follows: Westminster (26 inches), Eldersburg (24 inches), Lineboro (23 inches) and 22 inches six miles northwest of Manchester.

This means Westminster received 50 inches of snow from the back-to-back whopper storms."

And then I found this picture:

The same guy as the earlier video skateboarding in Georgetown, down Wisconsin Ave, and east on M Street:
