Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

I hope you aren't serious about this one...

As a Gopher fan I was asking so I can be prepared for the beat down we will take if they all have their hair yellow again. Sarcasm doesn't come through very well I guess...

I get the sarcasm, but you are making fun of them for something the Gophers also did in the past.

You shouldn't make fun of the awesome blonde hair. We took it and won it all with it. You didn't :)

Bulldogs lost a fair amount of firepower and the Gophers look a little sharper. Teams split the series last year and I believe this weekend will be the same. Bulldogs on Friday and Gophers on Saturday.

tUMD feels all grown up now that they have some big-boy britches. MN should show them who runs this state. I expect 2 points (MN rout, and a close game, not necessarily in that order), and hope for 4. If I wanted a tie, I'd join the white collar work force. :p

It is not stupid!

I want to sweep or take thee points from an inferior team! Tell me Goofer fans, who should I watch for? This team doesn't appear to have any bug names

Ok, I'll give you a little relief on the "BUG NAMES" typo...ya know, with taconite in the your drinking water and all....

But, the BIG name you should be concerned about is behind the bench now... GUENTZEL!:D

Calling a split. Once again UMTC doesn't play well, but Patterson manages to keep them in the game amidst a flurry of shots.

Friday: UMD 4 UMTC 2
Saturday UMTC 3 UMD 2

The place will be electric on Friday night. We'll probably end up starting Crandall on Saturday, so that prediction of 3 goals could turn into 6 pretty quickly.

I see 2 points as well but in opposite fashion. Gophers win a close game but get blown out in the other. Not sure which night each will occur.

If they get blown out, it will be because they don't stay out of the box. Way too many penalties against SH. Can't afford to do that in conference. Especially against a team who has the kind of firepower that UMD's top line has(even with the departure of Fonatine and M-Conn).

Re: Gophers at Bulldogs Oct 14 & 15 - No more well wishes

I don't see either team getting blown out. I'm calling two close games and a split. The Dogs win close Friday and the Gophers return the favor on Saturday.

I'd like to believe last weekend is an indicator but I can't say that yet. Heck, this weekend may not necessarily tell us a ton it's so early in the season. More than anything I want to see the Gophers bring a full effort both nights, see improvement from the blue line, find themselves on the PP, adjust to the speed of the WCHA and go from there.

I really don't see the Gophers of the last few years owning anyone like they dug Sacred Heart, regardless if how bad they may be. That being said, I have no clue if they'll be competing for high spot in the conference or not. This weekend should give us some sort of idea, although it is still early.

I would actually say Crandall played better than Rieter. Rieter let in softies against a team we were dominating. Crandall got hung out to dry on at least 4 of those goals.

Man you guys have gotten cautious, Scooby is really rubbing off on everyone. I know I'm a noob, but been lurking around since the beginning. Where's the smack talk? While what you're saying is probably spot on, and trust me, I've been a Gopher fan in all sports so long my balls are black and blue from all the beatings, but I'm still going with this...

Gophers sweep and throw your mascot over the Aerial Bridge on the way home.

p.s The Pickwick rocks!

Gophers are much improved from last year. Patterson showed he can be tough in net, improved over last year. Offense is improved and the freshman are ready to play at this level. I was real interested in seeing Isakson last weekend. I hope he gets more ice time. After the gophers put it out of reach in the 2nd period on Friday he may get some ice. Gophers sweep.
