Everything Trump touches...

"Initially, right off the top, it appeared that the driver of the Land Rover might be impaired,” Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said in a news conference. He said that, shortly before 2 p.m., a pressure cleaner truck pulling a small trailer was trying to turn into a driveway when the driver looked in his mirror and saw a dark colored Land Rover – Woods’ vehicle – overtaking him at “high speeds.”

He tried to edge off the small two-lane road without a shoulder. “As he was trying to move to the side of the road, the Land Rover” swerved to avoid a collision and clipped the trailer and then rolled, the sheriff said. The man driving the Land Rover crawled out of the passenger door and was identified as Tiger Woods. He “did exemplify signs of impairment,” added Budensiek, who said that Woods underwent tests and explained the surgeries and injuries he has had, which were taken into account.

Authorities conducted in-depth roadside tests. At the jail and on scene, “we really weren’t suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case. Woods did a breathalyzer, he blew triple zeroes,” but he refused to do a urinalysis test, so he was arrested, the sheriff added. TMZ reported that medication may be involved, not alcohol, as a result. Neither Woods nor the other driver was injured, the sheriff said.

Pills, not booze.

Ok, he's not dumb. He's an idiot. Either way.

Well, we're all idiots.

We are talking a modern context- were there's a huge opioid problem in the US. And none of them are creating great art. Well, Amy Whinehouse did....

I don't think Tiger belongs to the modern context of the opiate crisis. I think Tiger belongs to the timeless context of rich people have nothing to limit their excesses.*

* There is a way in which the proclivity of the super wealthy to fuck up their lives makes sense to me.

We are naturally blame-placing beings. If we are unhappy we are geniuses at blaming circumstances or others. Dr. Mrs. says when she stubs her toe on her way back to bed from the toilet in the middle of the night with me fast asleep she instinctively blames me.

So what if there is nothing and nobody you could possibly blame? Say you are super disgusting rich. You have no obstacles. If you fuck up or are lazy, you can't blame poverty or The Man. You are The Man. You are stuck with the knowledge that no matter what goes wrong in your life it's on you. You are radically responsible.

Worse, what if you wake up in the middle of the night really sad and lonely? You have everything. If you are depressed there is no path out that involves any sort of Overcoming. You are already at peak. It will probably never get any better.

Jesus, just doing the thought experiment makes me want to reach for drugs.

The thing about Tiger is that he's kind of like a football player without the concussion problems- he's got so many injuries. So it's natural to think that he uses painkillers to help with all of that, and by pretty common extrapolation, become an addict.

Especially when you crash a car on a pretty slow road when passing a pressure cleaning company.
