Going to Pittsburgh

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

Hey, Scarlet, long time no see (2009 in DC?)...

From what I've read, Pamela's is the best b'fast place in the city, and they are known for their hotcakes--altho, judging by Yelp reviews and pix, what they call hotcakes are actually more like crepes, not pangcakes. FYI...

How the hell are you????? And yeah, I think that was the last time I saw you. Matt Gilroy Hobey Baker night if I recall correctly. You know, that September, Laura came with me to LA and we met up with Brian for brunch. It was like old times. Are you going to Pittsburgh?

Oh, cool that you guys met up. I haven't been out there in awhile, so DC was last time I saw him, too (altho we txted a bit after his beloved Kings won the Cup).

Yes, I'm going to the 'Burgh. Rooting for Hockey East or an all-CT final (grew up about 3 mi from QU campus). Email me (buking21@yahoo.com) if you want to meet up:)

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

We are staying outside the Strip District. Seems to be a couple places with craft beer, among them Church Brew Works. Plus the original Primantis. South side and the Monongahela Incline sound like fun.

South Side across river also has many bars, a fun area. Remember getting quite drunk barhopping there one night at a conference years ago.

Weather forecast yet?

Mookie may want to golf Friday. So thinking may just take the kids and see mother while there... All depends on weather :(

4/10 - 64 with some showers (30% chance of rain)
4/11 - 59 with rain/thunder (70%)
4/12 - 51 with showers (60%)
4/13 - 53 and partly cloudy (10%)
4/14 - 59 and sunny

Well that's great. Rain on the off day and sunny for the drive home.

Boo! I just bought tickets for the Pirates game! It can't rain!

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

Those of you going to the Pirates game, where are you sitting? I'm front row of section 134, left field bleachers.

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

looking forward to a primanti sandwich and lots of yuengling.
Based on multiple sources, it sounds like a Primanti Sandwich is a must.:)

I note that there's a Primanti's Concession inside Consol. Any word on whether the arena location maintains the usual standards? Or is it necessary to go to one of the neighborhood locations to get the authentic sandwich? I realize that this may not be a fair question to a fellow traveler; I'm hoping a Pittsburgh local might chime in...

i've heard the general neighborhood around consol is iffy.
Yes, and the chatter is that the area just east of the arena is the most iffy. In light of this, does anyone have any parking suggestions? Again, a local person would likely be in the best position to answer...

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

I thought about creating a new thread for this, but would there be any value in making a reasonably complete list of events, bar functions and the rest?

"Where the wild parties at?" 2013

Edit: after work I'll put together an ordered list from available sources

In Section 212. Club level, behind the plate. 216 is directly behind the plate so I'm three sections to the 1st base side (there is no section 215, apparently)

I thought about box seats but I'm not really into either team. Plus I might catch a home run ball :p

He'll have an ordered list and maybe Ralph can put it in a spreadsheet and RHamilton can program a computer to tell you which bars are the best bargains :p

Make it available as apps for both iPhone and Android setups and then he's getting somewhere.
