Going to Pittsburgh

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

Excellent!! And you need to go to a FF one of these days.

It's going to happen, one of these days. Our team could do a little better, that'd help my chances. :o

ETA: Breakfast only served till 10:30am???? Bluebird Kitchen is off the list!!
It's not a diner unless it serves breakfast all day!

Sorry! I apologize! Stop throwing hotel bagel boulders at me!

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

current extended forecast is looking good.

Apr 10 - 76
Apr 11 - 67
Apr 12 - 54
Apr 13 - 54
Apr 14 - 63
Apr 15 - 73

I take it night time lows will be chilly enough to wear a fleece?

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

Next year is Philadelphia. That's a nice place for a family vacation!
This reminds me - anyone have an idea when the NCAA is expected to announce the 2015 (and maybe 2016?) Frozen Four hosts? They announced 2013 and 2014 in July 2010, which would seem to indicate that 2015 at least should be announced pretty soon. Not to be looking past what I'm sure will be fun times in the Keystone State, of course. I have to figure there'll be a return to Boston in there somewhere since it'll be, at the earliest, 11 years since the tournament was in Boston in 2004.

Yeah. The Gambini family, the Genovese family, the Bonanno family, . . . :D

There's been some interesting info on that here:

(It started a couple of months ago, but this week there's been some new talk.)

Years ago when I was working at LL Bean I was doing a special order request for a Bonanno in some ritzy suburb of NYC. No one I worked with had heard of the Bonanno family and had no idea what I was talking about. The next year Donnie Brasco came out and suddenly they got it. :p

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

I am a bit crabby in the morning till I've had my coffee and orange juice so if some lowlife wants to bother me in my walk to get said coffee and orange juice, well, he (or she) is taking a big chance. :)

When we were at Jenna's last weekend, Chuck had some stuff and it looks like there's a Bruegger's Bagels pretty close by. We managed there when we were in St. paul, didn't we? Of course we had Mickey's close by as well. I want a Mickey's Diner type of place.

There's a Brueggers on Grant St. It's a bit of a walk but not too bad. I'm pretty sure there's a few other spots in the same area of downtown.
There's also a Fourbucks in Chatham Place, right across the street from Consol, but I don't frequent that chain.

I'm planning on playing Cranberry GC on Friday. Anyone for a foursome?

nice place, but i'm either gonna take the boys and play cedarbrook - or if they want to spend the day with their grandma (!!!) meet some friends at sunnehanna.

So what was it? A monogrammed duffel bag just the right size for a body?

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

i've heard the general neighborhood around consol is iffy. Not sure based on that if there will be any local stuff... I'd try checking out between consol and PNC.

King, us geeks have arranged a friday happy hour at sharp edge... this is doubly unofficial because technically the sponsor organization isn't sponsoring and sharp edge wouldn't guarentee us jack... but I'll get over there at some point.

Coolio, thanks for the heads up, Patman. I'll see if I can slip in there before the Pirates game...

Nothing so spectacular. A winter hat, a vest and some boots. May have been hunting a deer...or an informant :p

Re: Going to Pittsburgh

Oooooooo!. Good to know. In my quest to excercise, I have been trying to walk in the mornings. This could be a reason to do so. Or, you know, shuttle there, walk back. Especially if I get pancakes. jen? Thoughts?

Hey, Scarlet, long time no see (2009 in DC?)...

From what I've read, Pamela's is the best b'fast place in the city, and they are known for their hotcakes--altho, judging by Yelp reviews and pix, what they call hotcakes are actually more like crepes, not pangcakes. FYI...
