GO FOR GOLD - USA/Can - 2009 Four Nations Final

Re: GO FOR GOLD - USA/Can - 2009 Four Nations Final

2 missed opportunities on WIDE OPEN nets in the last 2 minutes - puck not bouncing our way

Hasn't the U.S. learned by now (as they did 2002 in Salt Lake City) what happens when you rest your best goaltender (in this particular case, the Sportswoman Of The Year for crying out loud) in a gold medal game versus Canada?

US Defense was a joke in this event (and pretty much the past couple quest events as well). Also team needs to do a better job of getting the puck to their create playmakers (Lawler, Potter, Cahow). Not real happy with the way Mark is utilizing his personnel as of late. Hopefully this is another good learning experience..

With as many games as these ladies have played together thus far they shouldnt look the way they have thus far...

Don't you like Schaus? And it wasn't exactly like she gave up sieveys.
What does this have to do with liking Schaus (whom by the way, I love)?

Agreed, defense was disgusting. And for strategy? It seemed more like BCs dump and gun strategy than what I would expect from MJ. Specifically I thought the Lams played like crap. It’s obvious that they can't score goals at this level like they can in college/prep. I'd rather have someone with some forechecking abilities.
Perhaps the team was off cause they couldn't figure out why she was on the bench?
Ha, not going to lie, this made me laugh a little. I like Schaus just fine and I think she is a great goalie. Of any two goalies I would have on my team right now it would probably be Schaus and Vetter. With that said, Vetter is the better goalie with the better stats/record. If MJ wants to rotate goalies, fine. If MJ wants both goalies playing against Canada, again, fine. However, he needs to put the better goalie in for the more important games, i.e. the gold medal games. Anyway, I know that BC fans can relate to teams playing more/less confident depending on who's in goal so lets hope they understand where you and I are coming form. Anyway, like Matt said, the team as a whole played far less than desirable so its not all on Schaus's shoulders here.

not sure how you can say that the twins can't score goals at this level. at least one of them had at least one point in every game except for the first one against Canada. so obviously they can score. i agree they do take too many penalties sometimes and some of the penalties they take are stupid, but they play hard. i have seen them play a number of times and they are always giving 110%.
