....so apparently Iran is going to be inspecting themselves. The hell? I suddenly see snapback as a likely result.

That investigation will probably end up just like domestic terrorist inspections. They'll find they did nothing wrong.

Ah yes... the objective journalistic site AntiWar.com has declared the article to be untrue. Let's see something more than a writer claiming the original author had no proof while not providing any proof of his own.

In the movie he says **** all logic I want to fire those missiles. iow no way we can trust Iran we have to act now or they're going to act first.

Got it.

Well if anybody would know about rogue states, it'd be us.

If only such level-headed commentary would seep it's way into the, "shoot first we don't need to ask questions next" heads of the GOP and Fox Opinion Channel.

Curious, Slap. The Philippines is a place which has long-standing military and economic ties to the US but which is also populated by people who are probably not at all sympathetic to US foreign policy. What attitudes have you observed among Filipino people who are not entirely dependent on US military dollars? Or even those who are.

Waterboarding was used by US Army troops during the <strike>subjugation</strike> liberation of the Philippines during/after the Spanish American War. The Muslims in the lower islands have long memories.

Chomsky delivering his usual, overlong shtick on how the US is somehow morally equivalent to Iran, North Korea, and Nazi Germany? Say it ain't so. :D

Look, the esteemed Professor is good at tempering the usual "Murica!" attitudes, and that is not a bad thing (though naturally, it's lost on the folks who really stand to benefit from it the most). But he gets so over the top with his apologies sometimes, it's really quite embarrassing.

I live 5 minutes from the decommissioned base now, but when I first moved here I was several hours south. My overall impression is they have an extremely healthy view of America, Americans and our policies - probably even more than Americans I know living here. My youngest did a research report on the country and showed some very surprising articles reporting as much. I expected it to be a bit more oppositional and have found it to be anything but.

Not at all pertinent. By the way do you ever comment with couching rhetoric?

Good to know I can make a crappy website, search for all of the articles by authors I hate who use an anonymous source and then scream it's not true. Doesn't matter if what I say is true, I'll still get a bunch of people following along and agreeing with my article even if it's all made up.

You're missing the point. The accusation that you're repeating (and which has been repeated uncritically by the mainstream media, albeit with a throw-in "this is uncollaborated", and by the Echo Chamber without even that conditional) is so far -- as far as we know -- merely vapor from the mind of one AP writer who has a history of writing right wing argle bargle that later turns out to be false.

You're basically saying, "but what if it turns out to be true." I'm saying, the burden of proof is on a claim of existence, not non-existence, because the latter is logically unproveable -- it could always be under the very next rock.

I'm sure there are plenty of cases of this that you'd have no problem identifying if the shoe was on the other foot, but the VRC is so desperate to kill this deal, or anything that comes from the Obama administration, that they're willing to suspend the normal rules of both logic and journalism just to get a blaring headline.

tl; dr: you should know better.

So should Tom Cotton. Then again, Arkansas elected him.

I don't see any reasonable expectation that Tom Cotton would know better. He seems like an almost perfect idiot.
