Re: Global War on Terror Version 6 - Perpetual Motion Machine

It must really suck to live every day in fear of a nuke going off in your backyard.

having people trying to kill you on a regular basis does that do a person. :(

I think we are now up to 6 attempts at mass murders by terrorists in Manhattan, if I am not mistaken? Two successful, one a dud, three thwarted.

And yet most New Yorkers are unfazed. After all, there are no landmarks there, but a petting zoo in East Bumphuck needs DHS funds for protection.

.

Boo ***** hoo. Mother nature tries to kill you on a minute by minute basis, and is way better at doing so than some stupid terrorist from halfway around the world. Go live in a bubble if you're that worried.

Jeebus. I live next to the third largest Somalian city on earth, just a hop away from a named target by a terrorist group from Somalia, have confirmed terrorists that have gone to fight in Somalia and with ISIS, and frankly, I don't think twice going into a mall.

So yeah, you just keep hiding in your bunker or walking up and down the street screaming the end is nigh.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 6 - Perpetual Motion Machine

The most effective thing a terrorist group could do is suicide bomb a mall in Iowa. We would bankrupt ourselves in the overreaction.

That is exactly what I have been thinking for some time and wondering why they don't do it. A mall in Iowa is everywhere, and no one would feel safe.

As learned from the moral of South Park's "201", if you want anything in this world, all you have to do is threaten violence.

It makes me sad that Joe Scarborough wants war with Iran. Really sad. We have no anti-war channels on the dial.

Peace is anti-American. And anti-capitalist, which is far worse.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 6 - Perpetual Motion Machine

No one fired a nuke at another country in the 50s or 60s due to MAD. Closest it came was the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even then that was mostly a Navy "Game of Chicken", which today gets excessively elevated by history books as a method of beefing up overrated JFK's wimpy resume.

Today? Perhaps there will be a nutty Islamist cult who gets ahold of and fires a nuke "in the name of Allah". I don't think it's likely though.

Closest was actually when we did drop a nuclear bomb on North Carolina

Well, they managed to destroy our privacy and freedoms in 9/11, so there's not a lot more to get.

Re: Global War on Terror Version 6 - Perpetual Motion Machine

That letter the 47 traitors sent to Iran? It was just a joke!

Republican aides were taken aback by what they thought was a light-hearted attempt to signal to Iran and the public that Congress should have a role in the ongoing nuclear discussions. Two GOP aides separately described their letter as a “cheeky” reminder of the Congressional branch’s prerogatives.

“The administration has no sense of humor when it comes to how weakly they have been handling these negotiations,” said a top GOP Senate aide.

Right. Other Tories apprently didn't get the joke either.

“I immediately knew that it was not something that, for me anyway, in my particular role, was going to be constructive,” Corker said. “I didn’t realize until this weekend that it had the kind of momentum that it had.”

Sen. Jeff Flake was another Republican who declined to sign the letter, telling reporters Tuesday that there was already “a lot of animosity” between Congress and the White House, and that the Iranian nuclear threat was “too important to divide us among partisan lines.”

“I just didn’t feel that it was appropriate or productive at this point. These are tough enough negotiations as it stands, and introducing this kind of letter, I didn’t think would be helpful,” Flake said.

Too bad Fox Opinions Channel fans won't ever catch on to this way of thinking.

Another good quote from the article:

Right, because when I think of talks with Iran light-hearted and cheeky come to the forefront. People want to accuse the President of dividing this country, ignoring the fact that the GOP, certain posters here and their ilk have acted like spoiled, self-entitled a-holes since the day he first took office doing everything they can to prevent workable solutions for the country. The comments made at Gov. Haley's Facebook page would fit right in here were there not a moderator.

The last time this country was this divided, there was a war between the states. Is the President to blame? Only partially, on account of race baiting and communist policy. Some members of Congress, who are adept at the history of the world, know that these communist policies have been tried in many other nations of our scale only to be met with failure (USSR, Napoleonic Europe, Ancient Rome, to name a few), yet insane people are still willing to try it again expecting a different result. Fascist ilk, such as Pelosi, Feinstein, Clinton, Böhner, McCain, and the list goes on, are also to blame for shoving this oligarchial BS down our throats and getting away from the true message of this country. You could take every single clause of the Declaration of Independence and see it apply to the actions of all branches the government (whether federal, state, or local) within the last 30 years.
