That's what we have too. It sucks, but the new version is better than it used to be.

True, but that's like saying Adobe Acrobat 10 is better than Acrobat 6 (the worst piece of software ever released). :)

I can't believe so many Minnesota companies have been conned into using Lotus.

Well, I work for an Indiana company. ;)

I'm thankful that my position doesn't require email. We use some sort of IM that is similar to AIM, or just communicate in person.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

About 85% of my work is done with Lotus Notes/Sametime.

Same here. Since we work in decentralized offices (even on the same site), it's often easier to get a hold of someone via e-mail or instant messaging (Sametime) than calling and leaving a message. It's far easier to get the point across in a detailed e-mail than over the phone. I might even argue a well-constructed e-mail is better than a conversation in person at times.

For details, it is nice to get an email, so you have a document to go back and reference in the future.

Bingo. When I get quotes on valves, instruments, and just about anything else, I call the person and let them know I'm going to be sending an e-mail with the details. I rarely ever communicate them over the phone. I will, however, ask any questions I have over the phone because it's easier to get a number of questions and follow-up questions answered over the phone.

This is an obvious one, but drunk drivers. I'm on my way to my first ever hockey skills class and pick up game, and I'm sitting at a red light. Next thing I know, I get smacked into by some young twenty something oblivious to what just happened. I get out of my car to see if she's ok (I'm good, just going to be sore. Hello muscle relaxers and percocet), and she's on her phone talking. I try to see if she's ok, and she gives me the "one minute" sign so she can finish her conversation. We start exchanging information, and I ask her if she's been drinking. No she says emphatically, why? And I just say, because you reek of booze. I'm going to call the state police now, sooooo...

As we're waiting for the state police to show up, I'm calling my wife to let her know, and to let the person I was meeting up with for hockey know that I wouldn't be making it, when the drunk bimbo comes to me and says "I'm not even mad at you for hitting you." I had her say it again to make sure I heard her correctly the first time and sure enough, she says, I'm not even mad at you for hitting you. I asked her why would she be mad at me, when she hit me? She goes, oh, now you're going to get angry. Finally, by the graces of God above, pd shows up and I don't have to listen to her drunken babbling anymore. Cop takes the info and comes back to me and says, I'm goign to get you out of here quickly, and then she's coming back with me.

Is it that hard to get a DD or not get blitzed on a Sunday afternoon/evening?

You know what really grinds my gears? Using a blender, and getting all the solids stuck above the blades, unable to get mixed in.

Bachman's

The good news is MMM is moving away from the godawful Lotus databases. Great places to store date, worthless to get it out.

The only thing worse than LN is Sharepoint. Wait... Son of a b*tch...

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I think 90% of my gear grinding could be eliminated if people didn't drive like complete idiots.

Today, on the way to work, traffic was heavier than normal. I approached a stoplight, where the traffic on the other side of the intersection was backed up, if I would have crossed the intersection, I would have been sticking out into the intersection, so I stopped before the intersection, even though the light was green, like any non-retarded person would do. Only a few seconds after I stopped, the light turned yellow, then a few seconds later a car comes up behind me, blares the horn at me, swerves around me, goes throught the now red light, and pulls into the middle of the intersection, blocking it. I wish that ***** would have been t-boned by a Mack truck.

Was he driving a BMW? Everyone knows BMW drivers are more important than anyone else and hence their time is more valuable. Like this guy thinks.
