Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I'm trying to get my stepdad to understand that with $20, it's cheaper to go to the store and eat for a few days than to dine out and be left with nothing to eat tomorrow.

Sounds to me like he needs more parenting than he provides. :( You need to get out of there and get your own place where you can be an adult without having to defend yourself. Stop trying to negotiate and do what you need to do.

To be honest, I think he's starting to lose it upstairs. Can't say if it's Alzheimer's, but he's no longer all there mentally. But thank Parise, I got through to him today, and he gave me grocery money instead of going out to eat. Now to keep this going...

Great to hear it worked out

Obnoxiously loud coffee slurping.

For ****'s sake, if its too hot, let it cool down.
Okay, so this one goes a little deeper.

The offender is a salesman who I share an office with. We work in a remote office, just the two of us, and I'm pretty sure he was accustomed to having the office to himself before I came on board last fall. (Oh, and he's the owner's son, and my boss's little brother, so take all of what follows with a there's-probably-not-much-I-can-do-about-it grain of salt.)

It's not just coffee. Dude slurps whenever he drinks anything. Coffee? Soda? Water? In a cup? In a can? Hot? Cold? Doesn't matter. Every single thing he drinks, I have to hear a loud, obnoxious slurping noise coming from five feet over my left shoulder. The worst is when he has any sort of slurp-able food. Soup? A side of baked beans when he brings leftovers from home for his lunch? Not only does he slurp whatever liquid enters his system, but either (a) I am way too sensitive to noises or (b) this guy has managed to make plastic silverware scraping against yogurt cups, bowls and tupperware magnify in sound.

Also: he takes almost all of his calls on a loud speakerphone. And he's pretty constantly running things by his boss, his brother, the customer care lead, etc. And he is prone to just plain talking a lot, or asking me what I think about some stuff that happens while he's in the sales process with a prospect. And he likes to sing to himself (poorly, and he rarely knows more than one line of any given song, so he just sings that one line over and over again).

Don't get me wrong, he's a pretty nice guy, I otherwise like working with him and we work well together when he needs me as a technical resource while he's on the road. But holy smokes does this guy have a bunch of habits that drive me up the wall.

I know I could get this girl tonight. Known her for a long time and we have fooled around in the past. She is in a very happy relationship.

Gears grinding real hard. But I'm not making a move.

Don't be a d-bag. Don't be "the other guy."

Oh dear Lord, the grinding is ridiculous. Actually, this is more of a rage fest.

I had to go to MN for a couple weddings, so I let my property manager know I was going to be out of town for three weeks. We figured out a deal where I can send rent through Chase Bill Pay. I submitted rent on the 30th but because it was a Saturday, the bank didn't issue the check until the 2nd. By that time, rent was late and a $110 late fee was added, which I was not informed about. I returned home yesterday to find a 3-day notice on my door and a court summons for eviction. The notice was posted July 6, the same day they deposited the check for rent. Despite knowing I was out of town for three weeks and our principle form of contact being email, I was never notified of any of the issues until I found it on my door. Had I been gone another week, I would miss the court date as well.

I have everything documented including the emails where I told the property manager I would be out of town and that we would use the chase bill pay option. He agreed both were fine. Now I have to fill out an answer and justify myself. The judge could easily rule against me because the property managers technically followed all the laws. I'm just hoping common sense comes in to play as I have been an excellent tenant not only at this place but rentals prior.

Get an attorney. The landlord seeing you have one is often enough to scare them into settling.

I wonder if the landlord & property manager complain to each other they can't seem to keep any good tenants?

Asking to take vacation 6 months ahead of time and being told no because "I'm sure other people will want to take those days off".

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Drunk idiots at sporting events grind my gears, especially when they harrass other fans for no reason. This has happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks. If you want to be a drunk idiot, be a drunk idiot to the people you're with and let others watch the game in peace. One of the big reasons I avoid weekend night games. and really... if you're just going to get drunk and not watch the game, a bar is probably a better option.

But then who would go to Cubs games?
