Sadly, it's not looking good for him once the Wild get healthy... (Link)

"You mean, John Scott could potentially be picked up by...?"

*horrified gasp*

"Yes - a southern expansion team."

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

We seriously just went from NHL to high school hockey talk? I don't think we ever talk about college hockey anymore...

Pretty sad isn't it. HS hockey? You don't see me posting about honey baked ham on this forum do you?

As far as the institution's team.
If they can't get the opponents shots on goal under control, there is more than a few teams, even from the bottom of the league which will eat their lunch.
We should have been more ready to play imho.
to those who actually went, how did they come out, especially in game two, did it appear they were flat or just typically bad?
Looking forward to GLI, I'd like to dream that TECH could at least play them equal. there will be a lot of pro scouts there watching.

Honey-baked ham is great. Add a ring of pineapple on it, and it's better! :)

The best part of a honey-baked ham is the sweet juice/syrupy stuff that ends up accumulating at the end. Scoop some of that on a sandwich with the ham and a bit of cheese, mmmm heavenly.

How about on a PB&J?

You'd have to ask them.

I will never be able to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ever again. Not that I mind, they sucked to begin with.

How do you think I feel? That was one of my favorite sandwiches until that nickname came about. :(

Fire Jamie Russell!!!!1!!1!!!

You know, instead of lamenting this school not recruiting a million years ago some random kid who was successful at a crappy DIII school and is second on his ECHL team in scoring as a rookie which has no bearing on the current team, why not whine about how we haven't been able to land some actual high-caliber talent or something. At least then what you're saying would be a little less pointless

Fire Jamie Russell!

Now you're getting it. I'm glad you agree. But remember, it should have been before the season, not the 3-9 point as this would be another Waters/Sertich debacle.

Who should be the candidates? Any suggestions?

I nominate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

We looked into it for the Pep Band actually :D The problem comes in funding maintenance and a place to put the dam thing though, when we're not trucking around the Upper Midwest. (That, and the Pep Band was waaaaaaay too large to fit in just one bus, even then. :o) It might be workable for the Misfits though, especially if you keep up your non-profit status cough cough Yager lazy SOB cough cough. :p
Yeah, for the Misfits, the party bus would be a great option. And once its paid for, it would stand a chance at being able to earn the Misfits a little extra cash by making it available on weekends when the Misfits really don't have anything planned. I'm sure there would be some frats and or other student groups at Tech that would be interested in renting the bus for other things when its not hockey season. It would be pretty easy for a frat to organize a trip to a MLB game in either Milwaukee, TC, Chicago and Detroit. On home series weekends, it might be possiable for the misfits to rent the bus to the local Packer Backers so they can make a trip down to Lambeau perhaps. That sort of thing.

Charlie Weis is going to need a job...

You should know by now that you aren't going to find anyone in this thread willing to offer any suggestions for Jamie Russell's replacement at this point in time. The reasonable majority is content to wait for now, understanding that the team is quite young and is going to show flashes of brilliance in a season of difficult learning experiences.

The hiring/firing decision will not be ours to make anyway, so if you really want to try and initiate change, I politely suggest you write or call Ms. Sangreget and every major donor at your earliest convenience to express your concerns. To date, you have basically been the equivalent of the would-be politico who plasters their vehicle with witless bumperstickers - all talk and no action. In short, you are wasting your breath here.
