Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

What if it goes to OT? We should probably play a full 65 minutes, if necessary, just saying.
You know, I thought about putting 65 in parenthesis because I knew someone was gonna say this. Way to be "that guy." :p
And I'd be more concerned about the Minnesota Mild, if I were you. ;)
The "Mild" that are only 5 points back from the "we don't rebuild, we reload" Detroit Red Wings and happen to be playing their best hockey of the year despite the fact that 6 of their best players are injured?

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

The Wild suck...

A monkey could do Lemaire's job...(and another certain coach that starts with an R and ends with a ussell)

The "Mild" have John Scott. Enough said.

See, this is the difference between Minnesota and Detroit. Wild fans get excited when they have a winning streak, while Detroit fans know that it's the postseason that matters most. ;)

The Wings were due for a "down" year. They have injuries of their own, players coming up from the minors need to adjust to the regular season grind, and they're looking at a Central Division schedule that is actually challenging for a change. The fact that they have a winning record without the services of a Top 4 defenseman and two Top 6 forwards means that regardless of whether or not their reign at the top of the Central is over, they're probably still a playoff team unless there is a monumental disaster.

So good job by the Wild, and maybe we'll see you in the playoffs if you put enough of those winning streaks together.

Anyway, last I checked this was a Tech thread. The NHL thread is in the Cafe. :)

You're right, Minnesota fans actually follow the team intently all season, even when they're losing. Meanwhile Detroit fans start paying attention in April and expect to be handed a Cup. Yay generalizations!

You're taking this internet argument way too seriously. :)

To be honest, I'm rather happy that the Central is no longer Detroit & Four Other Teams. It makes the games and the race for the division title more interesting.

Make sure to text him when my high school alma-mater wipes the floor with his team in the section tourny.
They're not even good enough to be on my alma mater's schedule...don't want to hurt the SOS too bad. This isn't the BCS...:D

They aren't on mine's schedule either, but they're in the same section, so a game to get to the X is a possibility.

I was impressed with the SOS of RW this year (for an A school), they have Holy Angels x2, Mahtomedi, Hermantown, Breck, Totino Grace, South St. Paul, Lourdes, Fergus Falls and Orono. The only real cupcakes are the weak conference teams and some weaker AA non-conference games.

I should've thrown an extra smiley on there, I wasn't really worked up about it, I just like making fun of Wings fans.

I was surprised to see that Mayo plays Red Wing tomorrow night. Of course, since it's Mayo, we fall more under the "weaker AA non-conference" category. :o

We have no possibility to play them since we're not in the same class.:p

We get Totino x2, Hill-Murray, Moorhead, Edina, CDH, Shattuck, and Holy Angels. Plus, Christmas tourney is Jefferson, Centennial, Elk River, Maple Grove, Moorhead, Wayzata, and Woodbury. Hill-Murray and Moorhead games will be on FSN HS Hockey Night. Hill game is next Tuesday at 8. :)

Yeah, I was specifically referring to them and Tartan as "weaker AA non-conference" :p

You're supposed to have a brutal schedule when you're one of the best teams in AA. ;)
Is the Christmas tourney Schwan Cup Gold?

That's why I said it's not the BCS...:p

Not sure, but it appears to be at the Rec Center (BSM's home rink...OK, SLP's too, but we have more banners hanging :D).

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

The "Mild" have John Scott. Enough said.
Sadly, it's not looking good for him once the Wild get healthy... (Link)
Russo said:
The Wild hopes to get Zidlicky and Hnidy back Tuesday, but Richards said there's a very good chance Jaime Sifers will be recalled again for Wednesday's game.

Richards likes Sifers a lot. He competes and is mobile. If he comes back and continues to play well, it could affect John Scott's position on the depth chart. The problem is if you're going to throw a 6-8 defenseman who can fight on waivers, he'll likely be claimed.

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

We seriously just went from NHL to high school hockey talk? I don't think we ever talk about college hockey anymore...

Its Minnesota high school hockey. You wouldn't understand. And see bb_dl's post in the WI series thread for why we don't talk about college hockey :(

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

I love MN high school hockey! It pretty much rocks.

I give myself points for knowing the current subject of the thread. :)
