Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

The recent posts here miss the actual point entirely... Academics aren't the issue at all.

Not that it matters much, but I'd be interested to see the birth-dates of the SNC players, just to see how they stack up against the normal 18-22 college-age demographic.

(USCHO goes out of its way to deny access to that information; that seems to me that it's part of a general conspiracy to make D-3 appear to provide a level playing field, when of course that clearly isn't the case.)

If SNC is even close to as "mature" as was UWEC was last year -as in: dressing grown-men to compete against teenagers here and there- its not so very amazing that they're going to run roughshod over the whole field yet again, is it?

Just to help ya out little minnow...

SNC Freshman class had an average of 21 years 6 months on opening day...
Uticas Freshman class had an average of 21 years 5 months on opening day....

It's cute that you think most other teams play with 18 year old freshman who didn't play several years of Juniors.

Congrats to the Blue Knights for a great season. Lets hope that this great experience of the NCAA will bring your program to a higher level of play. The SUNYACs is in need of a great third team to make the conference stronger.

Agreed - having 2 SUNYAC teams in the last 4 playing is a great accomplishment.... #BlueKnightsPride #OswegoPride #SUNYACPride

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Next season is going to be a dogfight in the SUNYAC. Plattsburgh loses Cadieux, Nick Jensen & Roytman, but everyone else is back. Geneseo loses Vit and the Lakers lose Titanic. Those will be 3 very good teams for sure. After that, I don't see much. Buffalo finally graduates Kevin Carr, so that could be ugly. But seriously, how many more great teams do we want?? IMO it's got to be the conference to beat in East. I also believe ECAC West will bounce back next year after an off year.

If you had told me one week before the season ended that there would be two SUNYAC teams in the Final Four....and Platty wasn't one of them, I Would have to say you were crazy! Oh well, We will be back.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Maybe the committee won't be afraid to put 3 SUNYAC teams in the tourney next time !!

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

The committee probably should have placed more Western teams in the NCAAs, on the basis of both the objective rankings before the tournament, and on the results that accrued, in hind-sight...

Still, a very strong year for the SUNYAC, which was clearly the best conference in the East this season.

Good try, but I'm still not telling. ;)

Gen- na- say-o?

Nope. I watched a bit of the game on NCAA.com after I got back from Maine and the play-by-play guy was saying it wrong a lot of the night. It's a long 'E' sound, so it's more like "Gen-nuh-SEE-o" with the emphasis on the 'SEE.'

Even though we lost, I was still super proud of the team and the way they played against St. Norbert. SNC was just on a different level than the other teams in Maine, but Geneseo looked like they belonged at the Frozen Four. If you're going to lose, I'd prefer to lose to the best team, and that's what happened.

Great season, Ice Knights! And congrats again to Zachary Vit for being a First Team All-American and for Coach Schultz for winning Coach of the Year. Hopefully we can follow up the best season in program history with something special again next year :)

I don't get the fascination with the long "A" sound people like to use with Geneseo and Oswego.

Both are long "E" sounds....

It's an honest mistake for most people, but it really grinds my gears that somebody who's going to be calling a two and a half hour game didn't even bother to ask one of the several people ten feet away in the press box who could have told him the right way to say it. Either that or just didn't think it was important enough to say right. Not very professional, in my opinion.
