Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Any word if the Pep Band will make an appearance in Maine this weekend? I assume not because of Spring Break, but figured it was worth asking anyway.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Geneseo is busing to the game so ALL of the players that helped them get to this point can go. NCAA will only pay for their roster size team/staff to fly. Classy move by the coach.

Great info and glad to hear it!

Per @GeneseoHockey twitter,

-Zachary Vit nominated for D3 national player of the year

-Chris Schultz nominated for D3 national coach of the year

I haven't seen the full list of nominees anywhere yet though.

Usually every conference Player of the Year and every conference Coach of the Year is automatically on the ballot. Also coaches that make the final four are on the ballot as well.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

They generally like to give POTY to a Senior, which is where Vit has a slight advantage, his numbers aren't that great comparatively. I'd guess it goes to Brewer from Trinity or Jacobson from St. Norbert.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

If SNC does manage to win two more it would be Coghlin's winningest season in a storied career. I say you got give him COTY if it plays out that way.

For POTY its should be a toss between Ladd and Jacobson. I've always been a proponent of those awards going to players who helped their teams get to the pinnacle of their sport. Vit would also be in the running under those circumstances, but Ladd and Jacobson have better numbers.

Correct on the senior part. I think Jacobson, Ladd, Brewer are your three favorites in that order.

I think Gosek and Schultz have a good case for COTY. Schultz took Geneseo from SUNYAC also ran to the final four in the blink of an eye and Gosek took a team with a near 80% turnover and got it to it's fifth straight final four. Not saying Coghlin isn't a great coach and is undeserving I just think you have to reward a guy for doing the unexpected.

As for POTY, I have to go with Garrett Ladd, he is a Senior with some real good numbers. Jacobson is an incredible goalie and probably is the most deserving but being a Junior might hurt his chances a bit, not that I agree with that logic.

Re: Geneseo Ice Knights 13-14 Season: Where memories linger and our thoughts remain

Speaking of COTY, the number of COTY's won by Jerry York the all time winningest coach?

1

Award counts do not indicate a good or great coach.

Which sections are you guys sitting in on Friday and Saturday? I'm not sure the promotional code is working, since I tried all four codes for each of the teams and it seems to always be placing me in Section 9.
