Gender Studies I

I do realize that I'm everyone's pet AH here, and I'm fine with that, but how do we deal with the sports-thing, if one can choose one's own gender? How is that going to work out?

Absolutely open to any explanation whatsoever, and I'll sit back and listen.

Most especially to the self-appointed authority resident-genius of all things genderish, "Kepler"...

Bring on the "genius", already.

I'm confused....
Does Fish have a problem with hetero cis men creeping in the women's room?
Or with the political fallout of asking for too much?
Or with men pretending to be trans to gain a competitive edge in athletics?

Hmm...maybe raising all these different objections is just a way to say how he feels about something generally while trying his darndest not to admit it.

"What if" and "might happen" aren't evidence. Anxiety talking to you isn't evidence. Fear isn't evidence. Screaming the same baseless accusations several times, aren't evidence. Hypothetical situations so poorly written that even Stefenie Meyer cringes aren't evidence. I really thought they would teach that in high school.

And I love the whole "choose your gender" argument. Yes, because dealing with family maltreatment (like being disowned and kicked out of the house), societal discrimination, and boob and ball sweat at the same time is SO MUCH FUN.

Today, I found I was named to the Grandville Meijer Diversity and Inclusion Committee. And as I was on break, wearing a "Proud 365" shirt with varied Pride flags, I saw an older cis white male customer wearing a Rush Limbaugh t-shirt. And I looked at a quote I wanted to get right: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, it's not going to get better. It's just not."

And as I looked between the Seuss quote and the customer, I understood why I was working there. It was clear.

For pride month, one of the (small) pushes internally was to add your pronouns to your email sig.

While I'm not sure about that, I am sure the people who have been adding quips like "Batman" aren't going to have a good day when the right person sees that.

Change is scary. But if you piss the right people off, it's worth it. I know for my company, this is the first time they've ever tried anything like this.

That's good. Every company should make a vehicle for making it known how you identify. Our HR system has that field for that.

I'm sure badges will in a few years.

For a few years now my employer allows people to add pronouns to the employee directory site, but they’re not requiring it. And I believe the options are limited by radial buttons.

My company doesn’t do anything regarding pronouns. I would love it if they did though, if only to witness the predictable extreme overreaction of several people.

My company is so dominated by conservative intolerance and hatred there would be a full meltdown and most likely actual shootings.
