Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I think he's full of it. All one need to is try beer bought in a grocery store vs. a liquor store and the difference is immense and immediately noticeable.

This.

What is really funny is that there are a ton of craft beers out there that are 4% or so, less than the Buds/Michs out there, but those are just wonderful beers, but the macros are crap because they are too weak.

The macros are crap because they taste bad. They're all the worse when 3.2% because if you're product is going to taste bad the least it could do is get you tanked.

I get that part. Mainly taking a potshot at the craft beer fans who take shots at the "water" that is the macro beers. ;)

I don't know any craft brew fans that give a s**t about alcoholic content as opposed to taste. The fact the majority of them are in fact of higher content is a natural byproduct of their ingredients. Fat Tire is 5.3%, Anchor Steam is 4.9%, Blue Moon is 5.4%, Sierra Nevada Porter 5.7%, Bud is 5%, Miller Lite/Bud Lite/Coors Lite is 4.2%. Start getting into imperials, stronger pale ales etc. and it's not even close.

Yes, Miller Lite is going to taste like crap regardless but there is a distinct difference, and for instance a Heineken (which is also not a fave of mine even at full strength) is also noticeably different.

I give weight to both. Indeed Shenanigans is 4.2%. LTD's (local) Saison is 4.8%. If I'm driving, I pay attention to ABV. Yes, taste is a factor, but some craft beer fans do put ABV above taste, which I think is odd. If it's under x% they shun it as water.

I am sure a few care about it (over taste) but I suspect they're few and far between as again I've not met any. None of which has anything to do with 3.2% beer tasting far different than their full-on counterparts.

The Macros are crap because they taste like **** and their business practices are complete garbage.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

NY used to be beer only in grocery stores, and not from (2-4)-8 on most days (depending on which county you're in) and (2-4)-12 on Sunday. The blue laws for Sunday are no longer a thing, and wines are now allowed in the grocery stores (I assume any wine, not just NYS Retail).

Is there a "rule" somewhere that says people who live on corner lots are required to grow tall thick shrubs that prevent you from seeing oncoming traffic until after you are into the intersection?

People who don't mute their phones while on a conference call suck.

Many times, I will bring a frozen dinner to work to heat in the microwave for lunch (lunch prices in Midtown Manhattan are insane! even McDonald's dollar menu starts at $1.80!!)

I understand that people can be frustrated sometimes when trying to fit their stuff in the freezer, but your frustration is not sufficient reason to smash my packages into misshapen lumps of cardboard and plastic!

People who can't completely read what is written for them, if they even read it at all. I put time and effort into providing written information, only to have to be told that someone didn't see it, complains about some topic where there is a solution I wrote about, and has to be told AGAIN.

Somebody else who has you on ignore? :p

Oh god, I think low carb airheads just passed vegans on my "super annoying" list. I was told tonight that because I eat bread and potatoes, that I'm eating poison and the toxins.

My response: how deep is the *** groove in your couch?
