To those golfers who get done putting on the green and then stay there to add their strokes and then talk about a particular shot. Get off the **** green and add up your scores on the next tee box.

Too good a post to give you a bogey.

Pet peeve on the local 9 hole muni - foot golf. In theory it's not a bad idea, but bad soccer kickers are worse than bad golfers.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Do some of you read every single FB update since your last visit? I guess I just don't run into the, "my dog learned a new trick" idiots for some reason. I see the occasional political rant but not only do I skip it the second I understand their point, but I also don't get upset that some find it necessary to pontificate. I have a friend that just hates living here for his own personal reasons, and even if I read a full post that makes zero sense I don't get upset. Move on people.

You are in a thread whose sole purpose is to ***** about mundane things and you are surprised to see people *****ing about mundane things? Either you are going for irony or you completely missed the point...

Maybe people *****ing about things on Facebook grinds his gears and YOU missed the point. :D

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I think Handy understands that, but SlapShot doing that grinds Handy's gears. And you failing to understand that grinds my gears.:p

how many gears could a groundhog grind, if a groundhog could grind gears?

or something like that...

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Hope we don't loose this game. It's frickin lose not loose. Drives me nuts.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I don't have the best syntax/structure by any means, but at least I know basic grammar. It's astounding how bad people are nowadays.

I almost never post here or in Pet Peeves at GPL because I typically don't pet the sweaty stuff, and imho "grinds my gears" equates to more than mundane annoyances. Either way settle down it was a rather innocuous observation. :)

State Farm is starting to grind my gears. They got the estimate from the body shop on the 16th. It's the work of 10 minutes to plug into a database (theirs, KBB or another) and find the car value and tell me what they're going to give me for the totaled car. Still no answer on this front. "We handle them in the order received." If that takes 2 days, you're grossly understaffed for your business volume.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Thanks alot for bringing up grammar mistakes. It has a huge affect on my sanity.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

This isn't really a gear grind, but since this has become the unofficial workplace thread I thought I would ask here. Do most places do bereavement emails about other coworkers? Here they send out an email to everyone if someone has a relative die along with information on who it was and when the ceremonies are. All of that seems fine to me, but they also attach a picture to each one. Rain drops on a window, field of flowers, sunset, just random nature pictures. Today the one that got sent out was a bunch of cows in a pasture eating with three or four cows looking straight at the camera. Maybe the guy's dad grew up on a farm but it almost made me laugh out loud as I was opening it thinking, "which random stock photo will it be this time?" and then Bam! 20 cows on the screen.

Among our local, smaller group, they only send emails if relative was very close (parent, child, spouse). I bet there's an unofficial "death index" measurement that tells whether or not to send an email. :p Usually it's so people can sign a card or send flowers. Surprisingly, I've never seen a cow picture with one.

I've had bereavement leave for 2 grandparents and an uncle in the last 2 years, and they didn't send emails on any of them (which is fine with me, because frankly, it isn't everyone's business).

Never even once has my employer/manager told us that so-and-so was out for bereavement. In fact, our managers are told they can't discuss it unless they already know we're aware of what's happened through other channels. We usually found out through other coworkers who are friends with the bereaved.
