frozen four attendance

mookie rarely takes more than 4hrs :D

driving north to hit black diamond ranch one day
going down to naples to play calusa
doing 36 at streamsong day between games.

going to call over to old memorial and see if they can take me thursday or saturday before game time.
then mookie will have another day to fill with something close to town...

Very nice. I live about 30 mins from streamsong, but haven't been. Some day. Best I've played around town is TPC.

Re: frozen four attendance

mookie played 5 rounds in 2 1/2 days at pinehurst end of january!!! bite your tongue :D

Yeah? I played at Hilton Head on January 14 (not this year)...it was 38 degrees. Played in 2:45. Easy when the course isn't crowded... :D

Re: frozen four attendance

It doesn't matter where you have the FF. Someone will find a reason the whine about it!

38 degree golf is ******** :D

(mookie had mid 50s in pinehurst :p which is the limit for humans like mookie)

heard good things about that. last time down mookie stayed across the bay with a bud and played bayou club. LOT of water :( long time ago mookie worked a summer at belleair cc which has 2 donald ross courses. enjoyed those a lot (west more than east).

Re: frozen four attendance

The word "timezone" was hyperbolic, referring to the fact that there are no teams CLOSE to Tampa (unless you include Alabama-Huntsville). I could have used the word "galaxy" or "planet" and you should have gotten the meaning... :)

The Championship in Tampa will have more people watching than the Championship in Pennsylvania....so your solution is no more ff IN Philly?

Re: frozen four attendance

"?I made $500 profit thanks to Eichel last year. I might have to eat two tickets this year at this rate."
.........More reason never to hold it in Boston ever again!

Re: frozen four attendance

Maybe that was my problem. No car. I found very little to do in the area around my hotel. ESPNZone was nice, but you can only drink and hear about things not college hockey for so long.

I had no car, was at a hotel that was the LAST STOP on the light rail, and found plenty to do. It was awesome. El Chapultepec (live jazz bar) on the Mall, as well as some of the eateries on there, some other bars off the broken path, walk the trails, etc. Just have to look for stuff, man.

This is what I did. My hotel was across the highway (I think, I didn't spend much time there). We had a car to get to and from the airport, but otherwise we enjoyed the 16th street Mall, traveled to DU via light rail to watch the Posters game, walked up and down on the trails near the city. The only disappointment was that we didn't get to go to the Mint (you had to pre-schedule a tour and I was not as organized then).

DC was great as well since there was so much to do/see outside of the games. We did a midnight monument tour as well as popped into the Smithsonian. Lunch in Chinatown as well as in a great Mexican place not far from the steepest escalator in the US (I think) -- comes up from the Metro.

I'm looking forward to Tampa. We'll be making a trip to the Dali museum and taking in some of the local scenery by the water. Pearl Jam is playing the Monday night after the games, so we'll be in town for that as well.

TPC was very nice, and really not bad for price either, particularly during the summer rates. I've heard Belleair is pretty nice as well.

Had some good rain come through the area today, but I'd imagine most places will be in great shape by mid week. Weather looks fabulous through next weekend (kiss of death, I know.)

Yeah, I doubt it gets that high. I'm guessing 15.5-16.5k at this point.

Re: frozen four attendance

I tried looking back, and maybe missed it,but does anyone know why 2 admissions? It hasn't been that way in a while. Seems like very little time in between games.

One long time poster on this board who also posts on a Notre Dame board posited that by having separate admissions they were able to put fans of all the schools on the same side of the rink, helping to make it look more full for TV presentation. Makes sense because virtually all of the fans of the team that loses the first semi-final leave the building, and many from the winner don't even care to watch the second game.

Then how full would it look from shots from the end zone cameras?

Re: frozen four attendance

So did you have to have two separate tickets last night or just one that they'd scan before the first game then you'd leave and scan again before the second game? With the short turnaround time, this seemed like an incredibly stupid idea.
