Are they going to be selling replicas of those BU jerseys? They were awesome.

I forget where I read it but I do not think the jerseys will be sold. Parker designed them himself and made them more for the players to keep. The I think something was said about since there is a red sox logo on it, it would be difficult to work out the deals to who gets money for the jerseys or some nonsense like that.

I'm sure you can get one of those BC jerseys though. They are probably in a dumpster out at the Heights right now.

If you are talented in sewing you could probably make your own fenway jersey. Get a sox logo patch, make up some skates to put below them and there you go.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

first time BU played BC:

Fenway Park W: 3-2
Aggannis Arena L: 0-2
TD Garden W:4-1
Boston Arena L: 1-3
University Rink L: 0-9
Boston Garden L: 3-8
McHugh Forum L: 1-3
Madison Square Garden T: 2-2
Walter Brown Arena W: 4-1
Providence Civic Center W: 5-3
Conte Forum W: 6-3
Worcester Centrum L:0-5

what was the Garden game, the 8-3 loss? not the Beanpot, according to my Beanpot book

and when did they play at MSG?

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

I'm glad they honored Kreider and Warsofsky, but I think it should have been done pregame so they could acknowledge the crowd. It was also really nice to see Travis Roy. It's great whenever he gets to an event.

As for the game itself, call me a curmudgeon if you want but I thought it sucked (and not just because BC lost). Slooooow, unable to pass across the ice, tons of offsides due to misjudging the speed of the puck. Meh, I thought it was a fun gag to do once but never again. I had pretty good seats (LF Pavilion) so I can't complain about the views , but I'm sure they were pretty bad down low.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

Great game. BU played very well as did BC but finally it looked like BU wanted it more. I did notice that BU did play better in the snow and I think that goes back to what someone said earlier, the snow will play to BU's advantage because it will slow BC down.

That was me. Yay snow. Worked like a charm. :)

This event exceeded my expectations. I loved the snow, I had great seats (10 rows up in the Grandstand, section 16, between home and 1st. Sure the ice was kind of far away, but I could see the puck, I could follow the action, the snow was flying, I was at the 2nd best ballpark in the world, and the right team won. What's not to love?

For the entire 1st period I just loved being there. I loved the energy and the sights and sounds, and everything about it. Heck, I remember thinking, whatever on who wins. That changed when BU nearly coughed up a 3 goal lead.

I was never cold. Seriously. Take a guess on my layer count?

I actually like the BC jersey. Loved BU's as well.

I think Millan made a few great saves. I'm also pretty sure BU had another 3-4 golden scoring chances that they just missed on. I'm pretty sure Muse made a few great saves. I'm fairly certain BC would have scored if the game had gone another minute. I KNOW, I loved the fact that BC got called for a penalty with 2 minutes and change left.

I'm pretty sure the MSG game was in the late 70's. I recall hearing/reading somehwere (here?) that Mike Eruzione played in it.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

Curt Schilling didn't play last night:confused:

I was going for this definition:

sock2  /sɒk/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sok] Show IPA Slang.
–verb (used with object) 1. to strike or hit hard.

–noun 2. a hard blow.
3. a very successful show, performance, actor, etc.: The show was a sock.

(I had never seen that third definition before, but it works.)

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

I know it's kind of a long shot, but does anyone have one of the BU Frozen Fenway beanies that they'd be willing to part with.. perhaps an extra? I'd be willing to pay for shipping as well as the hat... I was unable to find one last night. They flew off the shelves!

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

Not only was that an awesome game, and while BC's jerseys with the nod to the Green Monster were cool, those BU jerseys were the most fantastic jerseys I think I have ever seen a college team wear. I'm almost tempted (not being a BU fan) to try to find one to buy. Anyone know if there will be replicas for sale?

Right now they're saying they will not be on sale at all. :(

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

MSG game was at III in 1961. Eastern hockey featival.

First garden game was either 41 or 42 (I'm not home to verify)

Completely agree. I kept waiting for during the pre-game. Some random announcement while the game was going on didn't really cut it. But they did acknowledge it so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Seriously. I realized fairly quickly that they had the Sox on the shoulder, and a little bit later I realized the sox had skate blades, and sometime during the 2nd period I think I finally got a good view of the BOSTON lettering. Both teams did a great job with the jerseys.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

I know it was a great accomplishment for both guys to win a gold medal in that outstanding tournament, but they are now playing for two other teams and I'd bet to a man they each appreciate the quick word that they received- but now would rather not detract from the issue at hand.. Helping to win games for terriers and igles. (just my thought - I was happy to clap for both and found it fitting what they got)

Sums up my thoughts except for the not being cold part. It was freakin' freezing out there! The final score was gravy for me as I loved being there for such a historic event. The fact that BU actually put in an effort made it even better. Agreed on BC slowed down with the rough ice, but they also just didn't look that great. I didn't expect at one point to look up and see BU outshooting them 13-5. Is it too much to hope that the team uses this to gain some momentum?

my feet got cold in the bean boots, but the rest of me stayed alright. i had a bean long sleeve, think flannel long sleeve button down, long wool coat, then BU road jersey over all of that. flannel lined jeans. then tuke, ear muffs, scarf. gloves (with hand warmers on the palms :p ).
