Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

My roommate is one of the coordinators of the BC alumni association here, so I'll be watching the game at an Irish bar across the street at an organized gathering of sorts. I just put him on notice that I plan to quietly watch the game, and I have no intention of making anyone cry tonight.

But I won't hesitate if, following several Guinness', I get any lip from someone who started passively following BC hockey about 15 minutes before Kolanos' goal in 2001.

Should be a good night.

:)

I didn't hear anything about watch parties like what BU does for the Beanpot. Good for BC for organizing that one. I wonder how many people will be there.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at the unbelievable lack of coverage of the game tonight in the local media. Not even a mention during the weather report about what the conditions will be like for the 35K+ that will be attending, like they did for the Winter Classic.

Awful effort by BC tonight. They ate too much during the holiday break, or something. The Eagles have started the 2nd half of the season horribly, and someone forgot to tell them that outdoor games are three periods long...same as the indoor ones.

Quick question: In the first Winter Classic, I recall that at the 10:00 mark of the third, they switched sides so that both teams faced the wind 30 minutes. I believe that they did that last year as well. Why was it not done this year at either game at Fenway?

I believe the coaches are allowed to ask for two 10 minute halves of the third period if there is any significant issue that gives one team an advantage. I think in the NHL game they indicated that the coaches were fine with the normal 20 minutes. My guess is that was also the case tonight.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

Great game. BU dominated the play for most of the first two periods, but appeared to tire at the same time that BC got their legs. I expected Parker to call a time out but the ice issues allowed the team to catch their breath. Those were some scary last 5 minutes (reminded me of USA Canada).

BU needed this one more and I think it showed. Good to see Millan have a good game. He has been due, to say the least.

The BU jerseys were awesome. Now THAT is a collectors item. Only problem is that on TV, they all looked like #4 unless you could see the number on the back. The "Sox Skates" looked like a 4 from a distance.

Haha, yes they did. Of course, it was never actually #4, so I thought it must have been Glass the whole time.

I recorded tonight's game for any who would like to re-experience it.

In person, too! I can't believe you said that.

Back from the game. Great experience! My seats were awesome. It snowed pretty much all game, though it seemed that when it snowed harder, BU played better, and when it started to let up BC picked it up.

While I originally liked the idea of the Sox announcer doing a period, could he have messed up more names? [/Chandler Bing] Just awful.

The BC jerseys looked better in person that on tv. No names on the back. Was that because the Red Sox home uniforms don't have names on the back? Loved the BU uniforms. I wonder if either school will sell them or auction them off.

Re: Frozen Fenway - BU / BC 1/8/10

game didn't sux as much as i thought it would.... stadium is too small for baseball. with a bunch of fat azzes standing it was even more cramped (fat azz included;) ). the bc section was great. i did pick great seats. great view of everything and right atop the field.

i like on bc's band peppers in some contemporary songs.

all three of our boy's goals were fluky'ish. off the post and off the azz, off the boards and deflected in. little pop over his head.

luck is good:D

nice game saving save by Warso late in the 3rd.

I wonder if either school will sell them or auction them off.

and here we were looking to you for that answer?:p
