Friars Hockey 23-24: Season-Long Thread of Pain

I am a realist. PC has one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the entire country and they continue to be checked out with no impact players and lack of skill throughout the lineup. This program has been in a massive slide since 2019 Frozen Four squad.

You're just an f-n a-hole. You criticized Lehman when he won a national championship. Your not a realist you are nothing but a troll. Why don't you go back and troll UNH like you did for years. Do you even know how to skate? This is not lacrosse Mr. Lax. Please, just go away.

Can't win games when your offense scores ZERO goals.

Then explain all the losses in games so far this season when they had 3rd period leads. Bad defense? Sure, but Svedeback has choked plenty this season and is a major reason why those losses happened.

Coming back for this weekend's game. What are some recommended eats nearby that isn't concessions? My son mentioned some food trucks being around. Anybody with experiences ordering from there, or should Chu stay away?

We drive in for games, so often just have time for the food trucks. Have enjoyed the original saugy dog. That truck has been there consistently. Another truck appears less frequently so not sure about this weekend, but haven’t tried it. I think Chick-fil-A is available in the Calabria Pavilion outside the rink as well. Providence is noted for its many fine restaurants. Have enjoyed several nice Italian restaurants on Atwells Ave on Federal Hill pretty near campus, but game time is usually at 7PM so not the best for fitting in a memorable dining experience. Hope you enjoy your visit.

You are just like Leaman...blame the goalie for every goal allowed not the terrible defense this team has had for the last four seasons straight. The terrible turnovers leading to breakaways, 2 on 1's, noone covering the slot, etc...

When your offense is set up to just get greasy goals off of shots from the point and a deflection from a forward or a rebound, you will not be a consistent offensive team. PC is averaging 2.9 goals per game (when you take out those seven goals against the worst team in the nation Stonehill, it goes down to paltry 2.7 goals scored per game). PC is also the third worst team in the conference in shooting percentage. (The last two seasons, they finished fourth worst in the conference). It is a trend with this team that isn't good.

I thought the goal was to be a consistent winning team. The Friars have had a winning record for 11 straight seasons and it looks likely that #12 is in process. While we are making adjustments for beating the worst team, let’s make the same adjustment by eliminating the same seven goals allowed when we got beat by BC when they were rated the best team. Guess what, the average goals scored by opponents goes from 2.333 per game to 2.1. Without either adjustment the goal differential is .6 more for PC than opponents just as it is with both adjustments included. If 2.7 or 2.9 goals per game is paltry when looking critically at PC’s offense, what does allowing only 2.1 or 2.333 per game to opponents say about the prowess of their defense? Just asking for a little objectivity and fairness.

That is the off ramp I was talking about, if you can’t find that turn best bet would be to just go away.

Hey thanks, that's a big help. My boy is still getting familiar with the surrounding area. I'll keep an eye out for the food trucks, I was just more interested in getting into a warm venue before noticing anything even around me. Except for that little kid who looked like he was charged up on caffeine zooming towards the entrance by darting in front of us. Haven't spent much time up on Federal Hill but my boy says I should be prepared to spend. I laughed.

PC was a .500 team in Hockey East last season and in 2021-2022 finished one game above .500. They are right on that edge of being a .500 team consistently in conference play which is where they play the strength of their schedule every year. Also, hovering around .500 in Hockey East play isn't going to get them into the NCAA Tournament as they are 5-4-2 right now.

You are hopeless. Your previous post talked about the “terrible defense” this team has but as of today it is tied with, (guess who - BC) for best defense, giving up only 49 goals in 21 games. Your focus on making it look like PC is not doing well when they are doing well is weird. Hope you enjoy being a notorious laughing stock, can you let us in on how UNH got rid of you on their thread?

If I waste a decade of my life posting the same junk over and over, hopefully someone will be as kind as to show me the exit ramp as well.

Are they doing well being in sixth place? Is that good enough for you?

Next season will be ten years since they won the Frozen Four. They have had one appearance in the Frozen Four since. If they miss the tournament this season (currently the 11th overall seed) they will have missed the tourney (or been in position to miss it during the COVID canceled tournament) for five straight seasons. Is that good?

For what Leaman gets paid, that isn't good enough.

You've been chirping the same dumb words for years. Is that good? You're no different from the wheels on a bicycle. Is that good?

I guess I am the only fan that believes in making the tournament is the marker of a good season. Most of the PC fans are happy just being a .500 squad for five seasons when the coach is among one of the highest paid coaches in the country.

Leaman is absolutely right to throw the goalie under the bus when the performance is substandard, and what part of "Bad defense? Sure" did you not understand? I do agree with many of the points you bring up, but when someone questions them, you revert to douchebag statements. I can now see why you're treated with such animosity on this forum. Go pound sand.

The wheels of the bus go round and round round and round round and round. Oh, the wheels of the bus they go round and round they go round and round.

I admit, I do feel badly for you. Presumably this is the highlight of your day, seeking attention here and you've wasted your time as you have wasted others time, and again wasting your time. That's not a Nate Leaman problem, that's a YOU problem. PK out.

When one's talent is being a smug prick with no substance, no change in thought process and saying the same things over and over hundreds of times they're either a bot, stupid or both.

If they make the tournament this year, as they well might, this forum will hear nothing from you because you lack the character to be generous. Their overall record since 2019 has been well above .500 so your statement above is your typical negative exaggeration, (some would say lie). Since 2015 only four Hockey East teams have been to the Frozen Four, PC, BC, and BU once and UMass twice. If PC gets in the tournament this year that will make 5 years out of 8 since 2015 (since the tournament was canceled in 2020) and 7 out of 10 starting in 2014. Do some homework to see how unusual that was in all of D1 hockey. Report back honestly when you are done. For someone who evidently has no college hockey experience as a player or coach, you really do not get how remarkable the turn around of this program has been since Coach Leaman has been on board. A little humility would help you understand why he is so well regarded in the college hockey realm.
