Yes, especially since the Friars actually won in regulation with 3.8 seconds left when a ref accidentally blew his whistle while the puck was never under control, (evidently he was out of position). Thank goodness PC won in OT, but that cost a league point and a reduced value win for pairwise purposes. Too bad that is not reviewable, but it could end up being a big deal. Great comeback by PC though, exactly how the coach wants his team to respond to falling behind. Keep grinding and play the game-plan, just what they did. Well done.5 of 6 taken for the weekend is a successful one. On to two with UConn next weekend.

I was seated on the goal line on the bench side and saw the whole thing. The ref blew his whistle way too early, as the puck was still clearly in play. The refs often call goals on the ice that are later reviewed and overturned, so why shouldn't this be reviewable? Absolutely horrific call that cost PC a point at a time when they really need all of them.

Same here, the ref toward the blue line had an unobstructed view and did not blow his whistle, but the ref behind the goal line blew his, even though his view of the puck was obstructed by the goalie so he really should not have done that. Hope he took responsibility for that when he told the coaches what happened. Right after the puck went in I thought the ref was emphatically signaling that it went in, but watching the ESPN+ replay at home later I could see that he was signaling the play dead. On that replay you could also see a UML player in the scrum at the goal line evidently saying the whistle blew so asking for that call. I assume the reason the call is not reviewable at that point is because the sound of the whistle could cause a defender to stop defending thus providing the chance for the offensive player to make a goal that he might have stopped. The entire sequence happened so fast that I believe the whistle could not have impacted that goal, but I would bet that is why the rule is what it is. Not sure why a review could hurt though, a right minded ref would have reversed his call in this case if he were allowed to.
Another big 6 points for the taking this weekend. UCONN is one of the teams PC is fighting for top 5 in league play to avoid the first round in HE game. Haven't followed UCONN much this year. Recent years they have been one of the older teams and with a number of foreign players.
It's a UCONN weekend for both hockey teams as the Women are at home Friday then at UCONN Saturday.
As for the local negative nancy, he's bashed ever PC coach going back since he was a kid
Pretty sure there is a way to block seeing his posts. I used to do that then he sort of went quiet may have to turn it back on again.
Good to see the news on top recruit Trevor Connolly after last night's crash into the net is good. Didn't look great when it happened.
Agree, that was a good road win, close match until the very ill advised major penalty against UConn resulted in 2 PC goals. Svedeback played a great game making a number of 5 bell saves, that made a big difference, especially early in the game. Glad Needham potted an extra insurance goal after coming back from the locker room after the needless hit. Hope to see a supportive crowd at Schneider tonight, especially students.Nice road win for the boys tonight. Strong showing and three important points gets them up to third in hockey east. I guess that's good.
