Ford field attendance

Re: Ford field attendance

Anyone who is planning on attending and can recommend a hotel, I would appreciate it. I have never been to Detroit and by reading the posts, there is about a square mile of civilization downtown and then it gets bad.

Where are people staying?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Ford field attendance

FYI, I have attended nearly every Frozen four since Lake Placid in the 80's but I am not attending this year becuase I prefer to watch hockey in a hockey arena without the aide of binoculars.

My sentiments exactly, and I have attended 34 consecutive Frozen Fours (since 1976). But not this year. I will start a new streak in St. Paul next spring. The Xcel Energy Center will never look so good.

Alfablue-

It's not that I can't find things to do in Detroit (or don't know what to do). I love the Detroit sports teams (except the Pistons), but the city itself is horrific and a terrible choice to host an event like this.

IMHO, you should not like the teams, then. It's far from a horrific place, as seen by the recent hostings of the Super Bowl, the Final Four, and the recent Grand Prix on Belle Isle.

Guys like you just really make me mad- such a homer for the teams, but such a hater of their home. Just go away, please. Come back when you have a better idea of what Detroit IS, and what it can be. Stop pretending to like the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. That's the only part you like, since the niggling Detroit part is horrific...

All you do is prepetuate sterotypes of the city. You should be ashamed of yourself, being such a hater "homer".

Re: Ford field attendance

I attended the CHA tournament in Detroit. The only bad thing about the weekend was the actual hockey venue, but I can't help it if Wayne State played in a dump [Michigan State Fairgrounds].

Yeah I was going to nominate that for the Futile Four venue this year. I can write a book on it. I thought it would have been cool to have both events in the same city, but completely different areas. Here's a preview of the reason, the Michigan State Fairgrounds website. http://www.michigan.gov/mistatefair. (Yeah that's correct) Guess I'll have to wait until next year.

Oh, what could have been.... Especially when the Red Wings showed some interest in a downtown, next to campus facility to share with Wayne... Darned money issues.

Re: Ford field attendance

I have a stack of unused tickets from Wayne State's last home game if anybody wants any for nostalgia purposes. Probably have 500 or so.

Re: Ford field attendance

If Wisconsin makes it the attendance will be incremented by +2. I can contribute that piece of information to this thread. :D

Re: Ford field attendance

If it isn't MI playing MI State in a college hockey game in Detroit, you can't get anyone to show up for a game.
