Today was amazing. I was dragging azz at work barely able to function. Get home late from a coworker's going away after having a couple beers, have to wait until the we draft our dynasty league at 8 PM, and finally start day 3 at like 9 PM. In years past I would have said, '**** this noise' and skipped a day.

So I decided to hit it even harder. Everything stopped hurting 10 minutes in. It was awesome. Now, of course, I'm cooled down and everything feels like death, but this was the first time since college that I remember hard exercise being a pleasure instead of a chore.

And I've found that with Beachbody, their workouts are fantastic. However, their nutrition advice inevitably includes taking their Shakeology, which is a highly processed meal replacement shake that costs $128 per bag. Their sales reps, I mean "coaches," do not like it when I point this out to them.

Day 8 and start of week 2. I got crushed by the various push-ups and probably did 60% of what I did last week. The weights were much easier. Did about 50% more weights times reps.

Endurance went down, likely a result of me forgetting both breakfast and lunch. Oops. But strength went up.

Very frustrating run on Sunday (only 1.5 miles), but ran 2+ miles the other 3 times last week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). May have sabotaged myself by having an enormous stack of pancakes for breakfast Sunday morning. Frustrating, but still hoping to run/finish the Smuttynose 5K on 10/2.

And by the way, for as long as I've been in distance, there have been times I've wondered if I've sabotaged myself. Going into this ultra on 9/24, I don't know if I've eaten enough. And I wonder if I've over-exerted myself at times. But no matter what happens, I know that on race day, everything will be fine.

I have no idea if my polar ft4 is accurate, but it's saying I kicked my *** with plyo tonight. Over 1,200 cals in just over an hour. Average heart was near 170 including warmup and cool down. That's a hell of a workout.

Never thought I'd say this, but I now look forward to coming home and working out. I'm starting to find that high you get during a solid workout. When the disc is over, I feel like I've accomplished something.

That's what working out does.

I have 3 days until my next Olympic duathlon, and 17 days until my 50 mile ultra. People are asking me what my plan is for the ultra, and right now, it's simply get through it and try not to die.

Well, the goal WAS to run 50 by my 40th. On September 20, I turn 35, and my ultra is 4 days later.

If this goes well, I plan on running 6 marathons and 2 ultras next year.

Took me a while to figure that out but I'm glad I did and haven't looked back.

Husband made me get back out there yesterday (worked overnight Monday and Tuesday). My attitude sucked initially, but I was able to accomplish 2.4 miles which is the furthest I've gone yet. Race is 24 days away.

In those immortal words, "I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."

I started losing weight again a few weeks ago, not thinking about this month being the month that my company does its annual push for community support campaign, and management is bringing in food all month long. They brought in 86 pizzas today. I'm very thankful to sit on the opposite side of the floor from the break room.

I love pizza but I eat it super rarely given how little nutritional value it has (generally speaking). Hopefully they bring in something relatively healthy that you can eat (chipotle, sandwich places, etc.).

It's pizza or nothing. There are never any options. That would become too complex for them to bother addressing.

Chipotle isn't much better than pizza if you ask me. Unless you get a salad bowl, skip the rice, and don't add cheese or sour cream.

Even sandwich places are notoriously bad sometimes. You need to do your due diligence no matter where you're eating. (I'm not saying you were implying anything different :) )

But with Chipotle you can factor in weight loss from the dysentery.
