Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

I can tell everyone here I am really proud of this team. I went to school at Ferris back from 1993-1997. I did USCHO photography and reporting for many years after that. I really enjoyed their run back in 2003, and I especially enjoy going to the games here and there. They are, in fact, the first hockey team I have seen in person. My love for hockey was kindled watching this team back in 1993. To see them make the Frozen Four is very exciting. I can't make it down to the game, but I did drop about $125 in Frozen Four gear just to remember this run. I know I will be sitting in front of the TV on Thursday and Saturday rooting my Bulldogs on.

Many Bulldog fans, including myself, are just stoked to be here. Only one winner can come out of these four teams, but I am convinced that Ferris has a legit shot to win both games and earn a national championship. Anyone can win a one game playoff after all. At the same time though, my attitude is not "national championship or bust". This team came out of nowhere to earn a CCHA championship after they were slated to place about 9th in the league at the beginning of the season. Getting there is a great accomplishment, and no matter what the result, I am going to be proud of this team.

Good luck Bulldogs!

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

My brother was @ FSU in the late 70s & early 80s and turned me into a Bulldog hockey fan. I've been going to FSU games routinely since they turned DI. Had season tickets for a few years. OK, I missed a few years when I was @ school out of state, but otherwise have been able to see them in person multiple times every year since......except for this year. Work, family, etc. have all made it impossible for me to get to ANY games, home or away. Now with FSU in the FF, I'm scrambling to change schedules and scam tickets to get to Tampa. After 30+ years of waiting, even though my heart says they'll be back in the FF again soon, my head says I need to seize the opportunity. Keeping my fingers crossed but regardless of the outcome of my plans or the games, it's great to see Ferris in the Frozen Four

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Congratulations Ferris!! You have certainly earned the trip to the frozen four, count this Laker fan as another on your expanding bandwagon!

UAH fan here rooting for FSU - you were willing to schedule home & home games with us as an independent, are a potential new conference member, and another DII school trying make a go at DI hockey level. Best of luck!
I know I'm going to feel dirty about it, but eh, Ferris deserves to win the big one for being one of the schools that got the rug pulled out from under them.

Where's Dom, and where are our highlights?

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Congratulations Ferris State! This Laker fan has tickets in one of the corners at Tampa, hopefully the same corner as the Ferris ticket allotment will be.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Thank you. We accept fans from all conferences and teams, regardless of affiliation.

Oh, and I'm sorry you have to put up with you-know-who over in your thread.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Ticket office said about 200 tickets were sold. They are again doing the free bus, paid for by the Office of the President.

Get in the fast lane grandma, because Brutus is ready to roll!

Where's Dom, and where are our highlights?

Lol, thanks for the call out Hammer.. NCAA has been real rough on highlights used. Handbook says we cannot put any highlights on our website because ESPN has all the rights....Although Michigan, Union, BC, Minnesota have. I guess we are the only ones who follow rules at Ferris.

A couple things I can weigh in on -

  1. Here is video footage of the hour long presser put on for the Frozen Four: Here
  2. We have at least three fan buses full in the first day, heading to Tampa Bay from Big Rapids
  3. Check out our Gameday Central page
  4. Lastly - I will be producing an hour and a half pregame show leading up to the game on Thursday afternoon. Game time is at 4:30 p.m. (ET). Pregame coverage begins at 3 p.m. (ET) live from the Ferris State Alumni reception at the hotel leading up to puck drop.
  5. You can listen to the last two games of the Division I college hockey games here.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

**** ESPN. They don't even care about college hockey. They only cover it because the NCAA makes them do it if they want the rights to other sports. Going to the Frozen Four is worth getting the highlight reel taken down or covered in ads. Hell do up the highlights and I'll post it on my account.

Good luck from this Michigan fan. I hope Coach Daniels and the boys can pull it off.

Wishing y'all the best of luck at the Frozen Four. If my Bulldogs can't be there, maybe you guys can get it done.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Two great places for Bulldog fans in Tampa. Four Green Fields, a great Irish Pub on W Platt, just across the river http://www.tampa.fourgreenfields.com/?page_id=26, and Hat Tricks, a block from the arena on Franklin. http://www.sportsbartampa.com/ That will be the hockey bar, was packed for the NHL All Star game when it was played there. And Four Green Fields has great food and Irish Music! Everything authentically Irish, including many members of the staff!

Best of luck Bulldogs!

Well, today's the day.

No matter what happens I am proud of this team. That said, Lets go FERRIS!

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Block shots and capitalize on fastbreaks. Our offense has outshot a lot of good teams, as long as they keep throwing pucks at the net good things can happen. Play the same game they have played all season.

Go Dawgs!
