Ferris State has clinched a fifth place spot in the CCHA. At worst Ferris can tie Michigan for 4th place, but the Wolverines would go ahead in the standings because of Conference wins. So Ferris would be in 5th place with home ice advantage.

All the 'Dawgs need is 1 point, a shootout lose, and they will clinch first round bye in the CCHA.

The Bulldogs MUST sweep this weekend. I wouldn't mind BGSU sneaking out an upset or shootout either. Does anyone know what the tie breaker is if FSU and MSU tie in the standings? Head to head is obviously a tie and we got them in goal differential and alphabetical order (only kidding about the last one).

1. Conference Wins
2. Best regular-season winning percentage against the other team(s) tied for position
3. Total goals for and against each team in contests between (among) teams tied for position in regular-season play
4. Best winning percentage of the co-champions against the remaining highest-ranked CCHA teams
5. Coin Toss

I agree. Saturday is kind of concerning to me though. Not only are we playing on a senior night, but they will also be playing for their head coach since it's his last game. With that said I would still be shocked if we didn't earn 6 points.

Anyone know the status of Chupp or Wietecha for this weekend?

If MSU and Ferris both sweep, Ferris comes on top in the tie breaker to take 2nd place.

Ferris tried to lose to Western once earlier this year, I'm hoping this isn't a trap game. The MSU series leads me believe that the team is back on track.

They always seem to play close against Western, regardless of standings.

Two ties against a team ready to die, and we're the ones acting like we're dead. This was disgusting. A win either night against a dead coach walking and we seal 2nd place. Instead we barely finish 3rd, and if the chalk holds in the 1st round, we draw UNO.

We have exactly 13 days to get our **** together or our season is going to be over in 14 days. Assuming that Miami and Michigan State hold serve, I'd have to guess that we need to win the next 3 games and play for the conference finals to get into the NCAA's. Anything less is going to make it dicey at best.

It was all in our hands and we've almost let it slip away.

Two ties against a sorry team is just BRUTAL. After that, I'm convinced Ferris HAS at least get to the CCHA Final to have any chance at the national tournament. This weekend will probably knock them down quite a bit.

Not sure what happened Saturday, Western had 43,653,541 penalty minutes and it wasn't enough.

One way or another, it's still been a fantastic season. I'm hoping this was just the typical Ferris "Playing Down to Western" that happens every year and that the team that played Michigan State two weeks ago is the one that shows up in two weeks.

We're 2-4-4 in our last 10, and our competition has been less than stellar, MSU exempted. A loss and tie against Ohio State, a split against LSSU and a pair of ties against Western, none of whom will finish higher than 8th in the CCHA, is flat-out inexcusable. I'll take the split with MSU every time without complaint.

If we don't make the NCAA's we've got no one to blame but ourselves. This one burns my ***, because this is the 2nd time in 3 years that we've had a serious shot at getting in, and we've almost ****ed this one down our legs as well.

There needs to be a sense of urgency this season, because I don't think that next season is going to be too pretty, with all of our goal scoring walking out the door in the next month or less.

Not that I don't have my own concerns. Like what golf shirt I'll break out in 2 weeks.

If we played any further down to our level of competition over the past month (again, MSU exempted), we would have fielded a team full of midgets. I mean, two of these teams aren't even going to get home ice in the 1st round.

And I haven't even started in about how we laid down and died against Northern after the 1st period Friday night. Sure, the shot totals looked pretty, but when 95% of the shots come from downtown Reed City, with no one in between you and the goaltender, of course Stewart's going to stop them.

No, I've probably been bi-polar with this team this season. I thought we had something this season, and we still could have just by playing decently over the past 5 weeks. 2-4-4, with 6 of those games coming against the bottom third of the league, is not my idea of "playing decently".

They always seem to play down to them every single year, I have no idea why.

Re: Hammer, I agree with pretty much all you said. This was a team that halfway home was in excellent position for a national berth, now it will take a strong effort. And the way they've looked, I worry about the playoff series. Thankfully, Northern and Alaska won't be the opposition, those were my two biggest worries.

Ohio State I'm not sure what to think, they looked like crap against them twice this year, decent once, and then mauled them once to the point that it became the Jordan Barber show. They beat UNO twice, but that was a while back. Michigan is Michigan...they are always tough.

I had low confidence in the chances before last weekend, then regained hope after the strong showing against the Spartans. But then this weekend, I'm not sure what exactly to think.

As for next year, at least they are returning both Nagle and Nelson, that alone should still keep them at least decent.
