I have to believe, the way we sat back and let them come to us , from almost the start of the 3rd, that was a coaching decision, and a very bad one at that. The worst thing u can do , it makes me think the coaching staff is scared, a good defense is a strong offense. I will say that last line on for the winning goal, that was a huge letdown on the forwards part,I mean that was for the most part a 3 on 2 down low, huge let up shame on them.Lets stick with what got us thru 2 thirds to date, good forecheck, cut off the neutral zone and strong on the puck in our zone,with good support.We will come back 2 nite,we will hold on 2 3rd, and quite possibly take 2nd,coaches have to believe in their players, and not change the style when they get scared!!

We need to start playing 2-1-2 and apply more preasure.
Last night was painful from 2-0 cruise control to OH my god we lost. Forget about the poles let's start to focus on playing hard in both ends and taking care of business.Let's go Dawgs

Well said. They squeaked it out tonight, but did their best to hand it away again after having a 2-0 lead late.

I thought they'd have to win 5 out of their final 6 games. With a split this weekend we need to sweep MSU and sweep WMU. Very possible if the team from the first half of the season starts to show up.

Anyone have a recap? Couldn't watch or listen due to Valentines. I read on the twitter page a LSSU goal was not allowed? With a 2-1 score seems like a huge break...about time we got one.

Over the next 4 games I expect a 3-1 record worst case scenario. Anything less I won't be a very happy camper.

Big emotional win tonight.We needed it bad. A little lose in our end for my liking but let's hope we can build on it for next weekend.
You've got to admitt the CCHA is tight and any horse can win if they are on there game.

Lakers came out skating hard, being their final home game and all. It was a pretty evenly matched contest through all 3 periods. I wouldn't say that there was ever a definitive part of the game where one team completely dominated play. Just good all-around hockey.

Chupp did not play tonight. Not sure if anybody knows why, but I didn't see him go down with an injury in last night's game. Wietecha still was not playing. It would be nice to have both of those guys back for the series against Michigan State.

Haines' goal was scored in traffic and ended up being a nice play. The Lakers' only goal came on a pretty lax defensive effort on Ferris' behalf. It was a nice play by them, but they were able to skate right up to the crease and a Laker player made a nice pass. I was on the opposite end so I couldn't see it very well, but it looked like a nice play.

Ferris clamped down tonight in the final minute after getting a penalty with about one minute to play. LSSU pulled Mahoney-Wilson for an extra attacker, making it 6x4 for about a minute, but I don't recall them even being able to get a shot off. If they did, it wasn't a good look. Too bad Ferris couldn't have done that Friday night ;)

Not a bad series. Would have liked to get all 6 points and definitely should have, but Ferris played very relaxed and defensive in the third period and it came back and bit them pretty hard. Pretty big series next weekend.

Good win to stop the bleeding. Finally a strong defensive effort and we move into a tie for second place. This is why those winning streaks in the first half were so important; They allowed lots of room for collapse.

One more win to lock up a top 7 finish.

I don't think LSSU ever did get a shot on net in the final minute.

The Ferris defense did a good job of blocking shots last night compared to Friday. I would say they blocked at least 15 shots throughout the game. That kind of effort will help against MSU this weekend and in the playoffs.

Colossal series against Michigan State this weekend. We sit #16 in the PWR. On the outside, looking in. A sweep all but assures us 2nd place in the CCHA and would all but cement an NCAA berth assuming we get to the Joe. A split virtually locks up a 1st round bye. Getting swept would be the fatal blow to our NCAA chances as well as a 1st round bye.

Must get at least one win. Shootout wins don't count. Can't stress it enough.

Oh, and it would be a good idea to cheer for Michigan and LSSU this weekend.

I agree. I don't wanna be a downer here, but even if we sweep MSU I really can't see us going to the Joe. I really can't. I hope I'm wrong, but I guess well see....

Right now, if we finish #2, and the seeds hold, we would be staring at a weekend series against Michigan. I never thought I'd see the day where we'd be looking at hosting Michigan in a playoff series.

BTW, a split this weekend plus a sweep of WMU guarantees us a 1st round bye.

You are correct. I don't know it's just a gut feeling. Maybe it's because I'm not used to the team being in this situation, and I don't wanna get my hopes up. I thought 2 years ago was the year, and they didn't even come close.

Not exactly. Ferris would have a first round bye, then (if they did finish 2nd) would host the 7th (or 10th if the 7th were to be upset) seed at home. After that, it's down to 4 teams at the Joe. Only one series is played at home if they finish in the top 4.

Don't feel bad. As I Miami fan, I never take that home series for granted since, it seems, we alternate wins and losses each year. In theory, this year we're supposed to make it to the Joe, but who knows?

The teams are re-seeded after each round. If Ferris ends up in 2nd place they will play the 2nd lowest remaining seed.

Hey Guys,

Ferris State sold out Friday's game yesterday (Tuesday) at 4:30pm. The first time Ferris has sold out against Michigan State since 2003-2004.

This should be a fun weekend.

I wonder how many MSU fans will be there? The Michigan game didn't sell out that fast, and Miami still had tickets a few hours before the game IIRC. I hope it didn't sell out so fast because MSU fans bought em all /:
