Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I wonder how many MSU fans will be there? The Michigan game didn't sell out that fast, and Miami still had tickets a few hours before the game IIRC. I hope it didn't sell out so fast because MSU fans bought em all /:

With our luck, that is probably the case!!

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

If I remember correctly, MSU had their fair share of fans last year, even when they were playing pretty bad hockey. I think they filled up almost the entire side opposite the student section. I imagine that will likely be the case again this year, especially with how big this series is for both teams.

You are correct, and thats why I have the fear of a early sell out. I was shocked last year when so many MSU fans arrived especially when you consider their record.

Yeah, I got the short end of the stick...I didn't get my tickets in time, so I will be watching this one at home.

I'll keep you all updated on here during the game.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I had someone tell me that they went to go get their tickets Monday night and there were only 5 left, I believe. It could have been Tuesday, but they've been sold out for awhile now.

You have to hope that Ferris plays a bit better than they have been playing of late at home. When the team plays poorly, it affects the students. And it's really a great atmosphere when the students are loud. It's too bad the level of energy at the start of the game can't continue throughout the entire game.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I was at Ewigleben this weekend for a youth hockey tournament and when I was in the pro-shop there was a gentlemen that wanted to buy tickets to the game Friday and he was told that the ticket office was closed and that he has to try back during the week. I was shocked that they wouldn't accommodate him and further shocked that the ticket office is closed when the arena is packed with hockey loving families on the weekends. Then we wonder why the games are so poorly attended!

Pretty sure it's not a good omen when the radio guy shows up wearing the other team's colors. *cough* Dom *cough*

Well played game by both teams tonight, I thought. Ferris just wanted it a little more. They were laying out to block shots all night. Palmisano had some great saves in the first period to keep it a 0-0 game going into the first intermission. Nagle played very well all night. When I didn't see Chupp come out for the warm up, I was a little nervous, but Ferris came out ready to play tonight, with or without their captain. Hopefully tomorrow night they bring the same type of intensity to Munn!

I looked up at him early in the 2nd...we had a black tie on with a baige dress shirt. What colors are you talking about?

He had his usual bright green tie on when he got there and then scrounged up the black one to change into.

After just scanning the standings, it looks like the worst we can do is a tie for 5th with Michigan. Finally we can breathe a little easier.

It's nice to see us putting together 2 good defensive efforts in a row. We may be getting back to what put us at the top of the standings in the first place.

Excellent game for the Bulldogs tonight. Defense was definitely on track, Nagle looked solid, crowd was excellent as well. And there was even a Shegos sighting! Especially as poorly as they had looked the last few weeks, it was nice to see some life back in the team.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Great win tonight from every aspect. Nagle played great, offense scored some beautiful goals, and defense was very solid. I thought after the 1st MSU really started to get going too, but we continued to not back down. We didn't even have Chupp or Wietecha, and to have that effort without them is very encouraging!

Some random opinions..

Why doesn't Bonis dress more? Yeah he's a 4th line guy, but I have said this months back he's just a really hard worker out there, and was a big time spark plug tonight. Glad to see it paid off for him with a goal.

Can't wait till Wietecha returns (assuming he does). Watching Schmit out there is difficult. Kid is huge, but just doesn't look comfortable.

Corey Tropp can flat out play! Nagle had some great saves, but gotta give credit to Palmisanio too because he also made some dandy saves.

I'm trying to figure out what Nate Hennig brings to the table. Looks like he's working hard out there, but I just think the other players he rotates with for dressing could bring more qualities to the team.

A few things can happen tonight.

If Northern beats Michigan, Ferris clinches the #4 spot in the CCHA and a first round bye in the CCHA tournament.

If Ferris beats State, Ferris clinches the #3 spot in the CCHA and a first round bye.

If Ferris beats State and Michigan beats Northern, Ferris clinches the #2 spot in the CCHA and a first round bye.

Even if you hate Michigan with all your guts, if Ferris wins, you want Michigan to win :p As it stands right now, Ferris has a 68% chance of making it into the national tournament, so tonight's game is huge for that reason. It would boost them up into the high 70's, and a sweep of lowly Western would assure a national tournament bid.

I've got my eye on the national tournament, so I'd like to walk out of Munn after witnessing a Bulldog victory this afternoon :)

Paying butts in the seats is never a bad thing for Ferris's Coffers....

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Little bit frustrating this evening. Ferris could have locked things up pretty well with a victory, but they really did play good Saturday. I felt like they outskated and outworked State all weekend. Bad penalty late in the 3rd didn't help any, and State's first goal tonight, I think, was more about State knowing how the puck bounces off the boards than Ferris did. It just looked bad. Ferris had plenty of opportunities that State gave them. Just couldn't take advantage. That shorthanded goal was a great effort on behalf of Ferris. It was a very nice play. Then again, I think Comley was probably fuming about State's effort.

Oh well. Back to work next weekend. Taking both games from Western is of essence. It needs to happen.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Walking away with a split (With the loss being close as well) is a pretty good result. Team seems to be back on track.

Of course, Ferris SHOULD sweep Western without a problem, but they always find a way to play down to them, almost lost at home to them once this year. They only need to win one to get the bye, but any slip up could put them just out of the big show.
