Re: Ferris State Hockey '10-11-Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the penalty

Okay. Here's the deal:

We need to root like hell for Notre Dame and Michigan. Especially Michigan. One Michigan win will cement 5th place for us, and with it a first round bye.

If Michigan wins at least once, and Notre Dame takes 4+ points from WMU, we will host someone in the 2nd round, with a trip to the Joe on the line.

NMU starting a power play with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd. Michigan up 3-2.

Re: Ferris State Hockey '10-11-Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the penalty

Ferris will not play next weekend, as they have secured a 1st round bye. Ferris will finish no worse than 5th.

Now we wait in Western and Notre Dame. Western needs 3 points to grab the #4 spot and the last 2nd round home-ice spot. Anything less and Ferris will host the 2nd round series. NMU can still finish 5th, with a win tomorrow night and WMU getting 1 point or less.

Notre Dame currently leads WMU 3-2.

Thank you so much Ferris for winning tonight!!

Sincerely,
LSSU hockey fans.

ND is currently up 3-2 with 5 to go in the third.

Notre Dame wins.

For us to gain home ice in the 2nd round, Western Michigan cannot win outright tomorrow night. Anything else and Ferris will play at home in two weeks, with a trip to Joe Louis Arena on the line.

If Notre Dame wins they will finish 1st place, so they will be ready to go tomorrow. It is also the last regular season game at the Joyce center.

5 points from Ohio State is a solid result. The boys did their job.

Now, if Notre Dame can beat Western one more time, we're hosting as the #4. Western always is a tough matchup, but if we can get Redmond back, I think we can grind out that series in 3.

And once you get to the Joe, all you need is one strong game. I don't think Ferris is in short of winning the CCHA, but they might have a chance if they can get to the Joe and at least win one.

Western has beaten Notre Dame 2-0, and Michigan is pounding NMU 4-0, with 2 more being waved off. We will be off next week, and then travel to Kalamazoo to play Western Michigan for a trip to the Joe.

Re: Ferris State Hockey '10-11-Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the penalty

First of all, nice win on Friday. It was good to get 5 out of the 6 this weekend. Ferris played tough Friday and controlled play most of the night.

Ohio State has a beautiful arena, but where are the people? I was disappointed to see all of the empty seats, and the student section was darn near non-existent. Is the support for the hockey program just not strong or what?

They went with too big of an arena before there was really a demand for an arena that size for their hockey program.

Re: Ferris State Hockey '10-11-Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the penalty

Well, after seeing that Northern just got beaten by Bowling Green (Who had all of 3 wins in the CCHA all year), I suppose things could always be worse.

It'll be a very interesting series coming up. I think it will go 3 games. We'll see if Ferris has enough.

NCAA Division II Men's Tournament Bracket

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midwest Region at Bellarmine
#1 Bellarmine (27-2)
#8 Indianapolis (19-8)

#4 Northern Kentucky (20-8)
#5 Kentucky Wesleyan (19-9)

#3 Wayne State (MI) (22-7)
#6 Ferris State (22-7)

#2 Southern Indiana (24-5)
#7 Drury (22-7)
----------------------------

Nice to see the rubber match with Wayne right after the Warriors beat the Bulldogs in Big Rapids for the championship, but a bit cheap to see em having to lock horns in the first round. Would have rather seen that matchup a round or two later. That, and I'm pretty sure that Findley got screwed here. Dang GLVC bias!!
