Fenway Freeze Out: New Hampshire Vs. Northeastern

Re: Fenway Freeze Out: New Hampshire Vs. Northeastern

They were actually going clock wise in the late afternoon session, but most rinks you find things going counter clockwise. Some rinks they have an attendant blow a whistle to reverse direction at designated times.

Oval long track Speed skating and Track running are both sports were pretty much everything is counter clockwise. The flow on Speed skating ovals is always counter clockwise even in training. While the oval may seem long compared to a hcokey rink, hitting the bend at top speed in the 500 or 1000 can be pretty scary when you lose an edge. In track and field practices are sometimes in the reverse direction.

Good points my freind, but I think you know what I mean....

Re: Fenway Freeze Out: New Hampshire Vs. Northeastern

Anyone have any thoughts on the viewing opportunities for this game. I have seats in the Loge in back of one of the goals and was wondering if people think that will be high enough to get a good view as I know the Field Box is limited view? Thanks in advance.

The skating direction counter clockwise as we speak.

The more important question is...What is the darker looking square in the background with the snow cleared. Almost looks like a practice pad in the making ?

Re: Fenway Freeze Out: New Hampshire Vs. Northeastern

So...what is the deal on public skating?

Based on the articles I've read, public skating is supposedly restricted to Mass (and/or Boston, depending on the article) residents, on the days of Jan 3 and 10. I don't know if the Red Sox Foundation tix are for those days as well.

But over the past couple days, from the live video feed, it sure looks more like a public skate, especially given the high hourly rate to rent the rink that has been reported.

Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?

Re: Fenway Freeze Out: New Hampshire Vs. Northeastern

ITickets for the Sun Life Frozen Fenway event sold out in just one week.

*** I was logged in to that crappy ticket website for HOURS the day tickets went on sale. Never got through, and I got a message saying it was sold out. I was ticked then. Now I'm royally PI****. Working-class UNH fan can't get tickets to the game, so all the **** corporate sponsors can bring their clients and show off how much money they have.

Signing off now, before I get myself suspended or whatever from uscho.com

Nothing public about it. There have been Prep games and an adult men's game. Ice time costs $20-30K.

Bob Costas reported during half time of the Monday night game that the organizing committee had 300,000 ticket requests for 30,000 tickets. It will undoubtabley be a Happy New Year for the scalpers...

Here's a small article on NU's Lindsay Berman which she talks about some of the extra layers they'll have to wear including some special Under Armor stuff. According to the latest weather reports, there's a chance of snow for the game.

watching this game is getting me excited for next week's games. Also seeing plenty of photo holes in the glass is getting me excited for said games :)

Yeah, rub it in bucko. As of right now I'm on the outside lookin' in. Seems there isn't a credential for me to shoot. Gonna have to work some serious mojo to get down rinkside.

Maybe be the puck boy on the bench, ;)

Workin' the angles;)

Well, it's not like he doesn't have a ticket~

After the Superbowl-esque commercials during the Winter Classic, I think the final stage of my shoulder rehab will necessitate a front load dryer:D

Good ol fashioned pond hockey weather.! This will make for nice hard ice. You will hear it crunch :). Getting hit by a puck on your skate will zing extra hard at those temps.

BTW..Those temps are common place up here for two plus months. No big deal, dress in layers, just keep yur feet moving and bring a balaclava and a tuque.

They're not uncommon up here, I"m just not used to being outside for most of 7.5 hours (estimating 3-10:30ish) in it :)

And I LOVE Backlava, yummmm ;)
