Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Not for nothing but when I search for a player to lay a claim to in USCHO-2, any of the players drafted last night for USCHO-1 appear unavailable while undrafted players are available for a claim to be placed on them. I was under the impression that the same players could be owned on teams in all three USCHO leagues. Is this just a glitch until the draft is over? Let me know.

The draft tool needs to be manually reset by zudnic...there is only one of draft tool.

You're correct. We can lay claim to any and all players throughout Division I. All three USCHO leagues are independent of each other.

Zudnic probably still needs to clean out the draft tool from last night. Hopefully he'll have it corrected before tonight's draft.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

I purged the draft tool, so give it a shot AllNightWong. Please don't actually claim anyone, because I may not be available tonight to purge it again. Remember, it's technically not a part of the real site (you won't find a link to it anywhere).

I put a record of the draft tool on http://bit.ly/fchdraftlist

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

I'm hoping that the Google spreadsheet will publish automatically tonight.

how does that work? are you working locally in excel when it publishes automatically? I was interested in doing that for Thurs, but didnt know how.

figure i'll just copy and paste periodically

Doing everything through Google Docs. It's private to me only (I may include Shirtless Guy in on it so there are two editors) and then I told it to publish to the web as an HTML file (the http://goo.gl/lggu link I posted).

From what I've seen (I had both the goo.gl link and my Docs.Google spreadsheet open), every five minutes the Google Docs page refreshes the published pages with the current changes.

Theoretically, everyone should be able to watch the draft live with the goo.gl link. There may be just one or two picks lag (which isn't bad).

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

oh ok, i have it shared as a doc to everyone, just with no editors.. i suppose its the same thing, just the final look is different.

i have extensive formuas on my local excel version, and to my knowledge, you cant use formulas on google docs - so that is why i'm going it locally and copying/pasting. am i wrong?

They included formulas now. I have four sheets. One is the information with everyone's AIM. I have the actual draft order (set up like yours with name, position, and school in different boxes), a tab I named "gears" where I have Google do some voodoo and have everyone grouped by name where it will automatically populate with information from the draft order page, and then a fourth tab titled "Final" that shows everyone's picks in a nice handy landscape format (populated with the information from the "gears" tab)

In summary, yes, formulas should be okay! :)

*edit* check your rep.

Can I get invited to the AIM chat tonight also? I'm just going to be sitting in a hotel room bored, so I thought it would be interesting to follow along. Thanks!

ha! i just copied and pasted your gears formula.. not totally sure how it works, i havent bothered to reverse engineer it.

i'm going to try to tweak it so that i can get the final rosters to spit out in the format they would appear on the site (6/4/2 active and 6/4/2 bench). i think it will require identifying each pick as F1-12 and D 1-8, G1-4 on the gears page then matching that on the final page.

is there a way to share all but one of the tabs? i want to keep one private. i see i can publish just 1 of 5 or 5 of 5, but not 4 of 5.

Re: Fantasy College Hockey #9 (The Apricot-Flavored Season)

Having some problems uploading my roster - what do we do if we drafted a couple of incoming freshmen and they're not yet available to select? It won't let me do a partial roster upload, so I can't just omit them from my list.

I typed mine all out by hand for ****s and gigs.
