Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

i guess quiddlet is too gutless to show up here, but i'm dying to ask if he thought the real super frauds were the 20 guys in red and white tonight.

Scarlet and white. The superfrauds were the 20 guys in scarlet and white.

It's too bad this game was broadcast in HD for dozens of people to see. Wuttabuttwhoppin.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Brutal, not only did the boys just play a terrible hockey game, they were diving around like BC usually does the whole time. While BC took some obvious penalties (a lot of them, actually) there were a few of those where our guys were diving or doing their best to draw em, and it was just sad.

And while I'm sure those at the game didn't have the benefit of replay, I'm pretty sure Gibbons should've gotten the boot. He jumped into Chiasson, led with the forearm and it pretty much looked like he went for the head.

But what a pathetic power play effort for BU. Our fear of actually shooting the puck was a problem as well on offense until the third. Defensively it was just atrocious, and Millan especially didn't help matters giving up such a soft second goal to let BC really get going. Well deserved win for the bad guys tonight.

oh, i like also in the presser how granpa jerry said he didn't see the 'gibby collision' at center ice that waved off cam's hattie.

Wait, so it's not possible that he didn't see it? Considering the puck was going the other way on a breakaway, I think it's a pretty good chance he didn't see it. What exactly is your issue tonight?

LOL

At least you admit what happened tonight...

Anyway, I thought BC did a great job taking away the points and making the BU forwards try to beat them on the PP. Was Warsofsky's blast on a 5 on 3?

Are you insulting a poster for not rushing to his computer on a Friday night?

Watched the replay of the Atkinson 3rd goal/no goal on DVR. There was no whistle until the puck was in the net. What a joke

Ya, I mean, we'll never get an explanation of that debacle, but in the end it was justice. Gibbons should have been whistled for a penalty. As to how they didn't award the goal after not calling that penalty...who knows. And then you had the Kreider debacle...how does he get a penalty on that beautiful goal? And of course Samuelsson somehow getting a double minor...just a debacle from the refs tonight.

There was bad officiating tonight, no doubt. What stuck out to me was a tripping call in the third that was totally bogus, and an interference call in the third where two bc guys were skating out of the bu zone next to each other and megan tried to rush from behind and steal the puck, hit one, and the bc guy was called for interference. For a bit, Benedetto was the best player on the ice for BU. At the same time though, BC did take some really, really dumb penalties and if our PP wasn't so god awfully bad, we could have made them pay more for it. They put themselves in bad positions, for instance, by needlessly putting a stick on the back of a puckhandler and giving a bit of a shove. Even if there was some embellishment, they should know in the NCAA they emphasize that call and are going to make it.

Bad, bad effort from BU, they were 100% not ready for BC's speed and game plan. They fell for the little tricks and fakes all night long. Yet somehow if we figured out how not to score on ourselves, and if Millan took of his blindfold for the second goal, we would have been in the game. I think I agree the most with the post from way down below, we're VERY young, and a year away. We'll see how they respond tomorrow night.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

- I posted more on the BU thread, but to best summarize, if there was a JV BU team, I think they would be playing. Periera should sit tonight in my opinion. Too many ill-timed penalties (starting a minute into the game).
- JD is spot on - Jerry always pressures the points on the PP when playing BU. And miraculously, it always works.
- BC looked like world-beaters, other than Muse. Scary good.
- I almost wish the score was more like 9-2. By making it "close" BU may not get quite as much of a message.

Here is hoping that tonight's game is entertaining.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

OK, so question (and I'm actually asking this, not trying to be snarky or whatever). This may be a rule that I'm not aware of or something that I totally missed, because quite honestly, my mind was wandering. I think it was Warsofsky scored that 5-on-3 goal with the goalie pulled, right? I believe at the time BU had a player in the box and BC had two. There were 4 seconds left on BU's penalty, one BC penalty had less than a minute, the other had more than a minute. Given that it was a powerplay goal, shouldn't the BC player with less than a minute left have come out of the box? Why did the other one? There seemed to be so much confusion around that.

This was yet another game where the guy running the clock has had issues. He either needs to be trained or replaced or they need to get a technician in for the scoreboard to fix what was wrong if it's an issue with the equipment.

Huh? Gibbons did get a penalty, Kreider steamrolled the goalie without being shoved or anything and Samuelsson flipped the **** out on the initial call and clearly deserved the unsportsmanlike conduct.

I agree with other posters that Gibbons should've been gone. That was the exact hit every hockey league's trying to get rid of. He left his feet and hit Chiasson with a shoulder to the head. If that doesn't warrant a hit to the head call and a game misconduct, then you might as well just get rid of the penalty and stop pretending you're cracking down on it. As for whether or not the goal should've counted, the answer is no. The penalty occurred before the puck went in. Whether or not the ref blew his whistle before the puck went in doesn't really matter. The penalty occurred and the ref was going to blow his whistle. The play was dead (think the BU-UML "intent to blow the whistle" debacle).

- I almost wish the score was more like 9-2. By making it "close" BU may not get quite as much of a message.

If they don't get the message after falling behind 6-1 to their archrivals... yikes.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

roger goodell wants a meeting with gibby.... word is a fine of $75,000 is coming down.

what was wrong with mookie last night? the tone of his posts were very un-mookie-like:confused::confused:

mookie was very unhappy with his team last night. mookie has come to expect a bu team to hit back when they get slapped in the face (literally, or figuratively - last night had both). instead they cried a lot and looked for calls. the end of my night came around 5:30 left in the 2nd when bc started to break out and gibby crossed his blue line ctr/right while looking back over his shoulder, awaiting a pass. nicastro was on the red line and i actually moved up in my seat expecting him to step up and knock the little head hunter into the seats with a nice, clean, legal check. instead our defenseman there waited, then skated backward and gave up space to gibby. i left.

it's ok to lose. bc is miles ahead of bu talentwise. bu's young guys have the potential to develop and close the gap, but right now it's not comparable.

but to be ******slapped and respond like pu$$ys is unacceptable.

..needless to say, mookie's cup spilled over.

They learn from their coach, Parker was in rare form last night -I was waiting for him to grab an official again.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Kreider steamrolled the goalie

Any thoughts I had of you being somewhat objective is gone after this statement. There was barely any contact. the goalie was hanging out to his left when the pass came to his right. There was minor contact. I watched it 4-5 times and agree with the announcers that it shouldn't have been a penalty.

I've been told it was joe whitney who got called for a penalty on that play and not gibbons, but haven't seen the box score. As for kreider, see profromdover's post. I have a feeling almost every neutral observer and even most fair bu fans would disagree with you.

On tv, didn't see samuelsson go nuts, thought it was 2 minutes for love tapping and 2 for hitting. Can't say I blame him considering how awful those stooges were last night

Who gets the pu$$y of the week award? The Terriers or the Cleveland Cavaliers?

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

The Bottom of Hockey East is bad, but 1-5 is pretty strong.

Totally disagree. Only BC is a threat to make a Final 4. When MC is #5 you got problems. BU/Maine are borderline at best NCAA tourney teams. UNH should get a 3/4 seed.

Barely any contact? His shoulder hit Rollheiser in the head. After watching it a few more times, it does look like he made an effort to pull up, but there was still contact. Therefore, it's a penalty, regardless of what his intentions were. I really don't see how anyone can possibly make the argument that it's not. Sorry.

Gibbons was definitely called for a penalty- 2 for elbowing. I have the box score right here. Whitney and Warsofsky were called for matching hitting after the whistles. Someone else served for Gibbons to start because he was cut and had to go to the locker room.

I agree that the initial call on Samuelsson was bogus, but he deserved the unsportsmanlike conduct. He gave the BU guy an extra shove after the whistle and then got right in the ref's face screaming. Certainly don't blame him for being upset either, but you have to control your emotions there.
