ENOUGH about DUNNING...How about the GAME? Oswego v Norwich Friday @ 4pm

This whole thing is extremely comical. The young men on the ice will decide this thing. ANYBODY getting all worked up over what a few over zealous fans say is quite pointless. I am surprised by some of the experienced posters getting caught up in this. So what if someone thinks their team is great. Some of these posters are the same ones that say the Laker fan base is too critical of the team, now some are guilty of some over weaning hubris. It reminds me of the Jay Cutler debate. He gets injured in a game tries to play, but cannot or is pulled & people say he has no heart. Then he gets in the face of a lineman and pushes him in the heat of the game and he is too passionate and went over the line. In the eyes of some media he will never do the right thing. I have come to the conclusion, in the eyes of some posters at least, some Oswego fans can post no right. We are ****ed if we do and also if we don't, so have fun people. Enjoy the debate, bash each other if you want but please spare me the righteousness and indignation. I have watched this for years the acrimony between Norwich & Oswego fans almost seems more bitter than Platty & Oswego. I have a lot of respect for most of the posters of these teams and I don't agree with the boastful posts.I have always liked the motto "you should act like you have been there before". I guess we will find out who is better tomorrow.
Not a fan of Cutler. Great arm. Hot wife. ****** of a team mate.

This is an Internet message board. What pray tell do you expect?
I guess I expected more debate and less hypocrisy but with this response from a former columnist and someone whose posts & insight I respect, maybe I set my expectations to high. I guess because it's the internet we should keep everything lowbrow and encourage the cyber-bullying. I guess when I see posts that include professors & people that graduated before I was born I expect more, maybe some insight or another way that I can learn something new. I come here hoping to learn and engage in discussion, if I want mudslinging, I'll reread the political adverts. After all, I would think most of the people on this board at least have an undergrad degree or soon will. I'm para-phrasing but I have been seeing for years posts like, You Oswego fans expect too much of your team you shouldn't be critical if they did something wrong or they didn't win by enough, or no wait you think they are the best team oh then we should just give them the crown.

Just because I have only recently started posting doesn't mean I don't know what I'm saying or that I haven't been an avid reader of these boards since before Pres was posting as an undergrad. The biggest mistake anybody can assume is that they are more knowledgeable than someone they don't know. So go ahead and fire away. Send the negative rep, but first tell me what I said that was untrue or deserving of scorn.;)

Sorry but I happen to be a Bears fan w/ DirecTV so I watch Chicago Local sports during the season. I support Cutler even though I understand what you are saying. There is almost nobody that gets bashed as much as him in sports (except maybe ARod who has almost completely brought it on himself IMO). Cutler is a victim of his demeanor & body language Having watched as much media coverage of him as I have made me realize he can do no right in the eyes of the media. He could save fifty homeless children from a burning building and he would get blamed for not putting out the fire.:D Sorry for the non hockey rant just explaining why I used Cutler.

No worries and I'm sorry (you're a Bears fan) Its been a tough couple years.. I have been to Soldier Field a number of times and was very impressed with the passion of the fanbase. True NFL town. I live in Florida and we are a non-commited bunch. Most of us should be committed...somewhere.

I hear ya buddy. Someone says an opinion and everyone attacks him for it being "wrong". The only "right" post is one that states no strong opinion about anything whatsoever at all. And who wants to read that? 50 pages of people just saying "Go Lakers" gets really boring really quickly. Heaven forbid you mention some statistics and give reasons for your opinions. People read way too far into your analysis and put words in your mouth.

The sad part is that it's us Lakers fans doing it to each other (I'm not completely innocent either, I know). Doesn't that just seem silly? The way I see it, if you want to have stimulating conversation on the boards here:
1. State an opinion
2. Back it up with something
3. Don't be a d*ck about it
4. If you want to disagree with someone's opinion, disagree and back it up with something
5. Don't be a d*ck about that either

The lesson here is that you can have an opinion and disagree with people without attacking them. Attack their arguments sure. Example of good convo:
Person 1: I think that due to [insert statistic] Team A has a big advantage coming into this game.
Person 2: I disagree. I think [insert statistic] is a better indicator due to [insert reason] and gives the advantage to Team B
Example of bad convo:
Person 1: I think Person 2 must be high on bath salts to possibly think that his analysis makes any sense. Yeah we should just give the championship to your team if you believe the baloney your spewing.

C'mon people this isn't kindergarten. Or is it?

I don't think anyone's under the illusion that anything we say here actually affects the games. Just like nothing that anyone says on Sportscenter or any of the various ESPN channels has any affect on any sports. We don't talk about it because we think we're affecting the results. We talk about it because it's fun to talk about it. So when you say "everything that everyone says here doesn't matter because the players will decide the games" I say that you have absolutely no idea what we're doing here. Let us enjoy ourselves.

Sorry for the rant. Go Lakers!

No matter which team wins both teams have a lot to be proud of this year. Some really really talented guys on both squads. This showdown of fantastic offense vs. unbelievable defense has the potential to be a game for the ages. Both teams are double-edged swords where if you pay too much attention to their strongest attribute, you'll forget that pretty much every other aspect to their game is deadly as well. Everywhere you think you see a weakness, there's a strength lurking.

Who else feels like tonight is Christmas Eve? Best of luck to all squads. I gotta root for our SUNYAC champions Oswego. Safe travels for anyone and everyone who hasn't arrived yet in Placid. Let's make this one the best one!

Well, I'm an old fart who resides in SE Georgia, and am a proud graduate of Norwich. I must have slept through a day or two of comments,(or was on the golf course), and have missed a lot of the give and take,(some of which may have been caused by my previous posts), BUT, I would remind all the posters that whatever we say on these sites means absolutely SQUAT!!! It will be decided on the ice, and then we can spend the next 9+ months pontificating on why. My real concern is that both teams may put too much emphasis on Friday's game, and not have enough left for the real prize, Saturday.

As usual, the "Peach" totally gets it right. The game will be decided on the ice, and after it is over a bunch of player on both sides will be done playing hockey at this level - forever. Some may move on to the pros, but the reality is that this game is going to be the zenith of the careers of most of the graduating seniors. It should be a great game, and as long as I get back from my account's office on time I will be focused on enjoying it. I have a lot of confidence in the Cadets and their defense, but the games are played on the ice, not in the chat forums. Good luck to both teams, and may the best team (the one from Vermont) win :D

Point well taken but I had received bad rep from the post so I reacted. Sorry also as my girlfriend can attest sarcasm doesn't translate real well to texts and or post without inflection or emotes. So maybe I took what you were saying the wrong way my apologies. I do respect your opinion though. Anyway getting ready to drive to Placid hope for a great game.
