Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

I think that inadvertent high stick actually struck #7 Alyssa Chwick. While this incident may have been inadvertent, a player is still responsible for her stick. If you follow play away from the puck, the Soaring Eagles always have their hands up and you can observe a lot of stick work on their part. When this type of play is allowed to pass, and then Amherst is whistled for what I can see as incidental contact (Zukas checking) and players tangled in a scrum on the boards (Dennett hooking) you wonder what the refs are thinking?

From what I heard, Zukas did not even touch the Elmira player, she fell by herself and Zukas got the call which caused the 5 on 3 situation at the end of the game. I also heard that the refs were very inconsistent last evening.

What I saw was that the Elmira player was falling on her own, and the Amherst player, in the process of playing the puck, made contact with the Elmira player's head, which was at knee level.

In no way did the Amherst player cause the fall, and if it weren't a knee-to-head shot, the call probably would not have been made. In fact, the (F) ref waited a good 3 or 4 seconds (probably waiting for the EC player to get up, which she didn't) before raising her hand.

There was no intent, but unfortunately no time to avoid the contact either. Fortunately, the call didn't impact the outcome.

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

Amherst takes care of business 3-1 vs Elmira in the re-match. Sweet.

Had Amherst's first goal (high stick) been disallowed, there would have been another tie game. Coach Fargo would not have had to pull his goalie and then no open net goal.

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

I'll be the first one to give credit, where credit is due and I thought Amherst was the better team on this night.

Having said that I've seen two posts on the D3 score update thread by people that were actually at the game that suggests the reffing was less than stellar. Apparently even missing an EC goal in the second period.

My point is....is this the best crew they can send out for a 1/2 matchup? Out of position, can't keep up with the play, inconsistent calls/non calls on both teams, officials laughing and chatting at the blue line during play.

I would have expected their # 1 crew for a # 1 game....sure hope that wasn't the best they have.

These same refs work Div 1 games also. Wonder how they keep up?

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

Hey the gang is all here....Prof, Seymore, and my CIS moderator.....we are missing some of the old gang ...REX I can not remember his first name on the site. We did take it serious. I am still fighting the fight against the OWHA.

Seymore.....golf away...wish I was there playing a game with you.

I am not sure if you all know....but I landed a good Gig out west and at hockey factory....you may have heard of it....Notre Dame....coaching a little hockey and running a Dorm.

Take care gang....Dice

We said they couldn't keep up with the play of Amherst and Elmira...Plattsburgh they would likley have no problem with..:)

Can we also assume you condone officials standing at the blueline chatting while the play is ongoing?

Hey Dice!!! Good to hear from you! I still visit your forum to see what's happening..seems it's the same topic....different year...kinda like Groundhog Day. Golf here is good. Getting the game in shape for a return to SWO in May. Congrats on the ND gig! Traveled right past Notre Dame a couple of years ago when I was moving my son to Calgary. (He's a CFD member now.) Pretty stark region.

Keep up the great work on the dinosaurs in the OW. Already had a run-in with them as a result of my D playing in the CWHL...they have their out-of-touch, mole-infested fists in every corner of the ladies' game!!! Unfortunate. They HAVE to go. Keep leaning on them...maybe they'll take the hint!  ;)

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

Now.... in a break from action of the "Seymore...Ol' Homeweek" thread.

Elmira actually skates 2 games against the league penalty minute leading Potsdam Bears this weekend. Perhaps an opportunity to work on their PP scheme...

Predictions?

"CIS Moderator"...?. Curious as to who that would be ?.

I see Seymore has not lost his touch.

Enough of the Diversions......Elmira vs Potsdam will be in the range of a 3 to 6 goal spread in each game. Potsdam will keep it close in one game, but will not be able to do that twice in the weekend.

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010

It appears both teams had opportunities to work on their power play & penalty kill out in Pine Valley today.

As an aside I think the crew running the webcast camera are getting better every game. Panning in/out, following the play better etc.... keep working on your game. A word of advice however....we can hear you...:)

Classy! :D What in my post would give you the idea that I condone blueline chatting during the game? I was merely stating that these same refs work the D 1 games where, presumably, the speed is even faster. If they can't keep up with D3, how do they keep up with D1?

Well the comment was in the original post you quoted. You didn't discount it so we'll assume you agree with it until stated otherwise. If that isn't the case then in future only quote what you are referring to.

Listen aerogroup2, I would love to have a battle of wits with you however.... you are clearly unarmed. :)

Oh wow...now THAT'S mean! (and original too!)
The more you talk, the more clearly I see why you chose EC purple.
Yer a beaut! haha.

Not meant to be mean. Not my nature. Just call em as I see em. Some people are a lot better pitchers than they are catchers. Your pal is one of them.

Raining today?
