Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Accidently stumbled accross it. Did we miss a big announcement?.

As Fiver mentioned, she is not listed on any game sheet as of yet. Not sure if that is because a sit rule applies until next season.

http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1011/boxes/wnrwplt1.j12

She was dressed. Just did not play.

There is no sit rule for transfering down from D-I to D-III midseason. This happens all the time and D-I players jump right into the lineup after the holiday break for D-III teams in men and women's hockey.

There is a sit rule for transfering up though. I believe the only time players have to sit when transfering down is if they played major junior.

Thanks for that explanation. While my previous posts were partly "tong in cheek", it is good to know the rules. I think it is good for D1 players to be able to find a new home in D3 if things don't work out.

While Fiver will pick a bone with me on this one, IMHO PLatty runs a good program and Kevin always finds good fits for his program in many places. Can't argue with his success over the years.

Since this is an EC thread, have the same view on EC. A great program year in year out. Talked to both Fargo and Houle several times. Both great coaches who know what they are doing.

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Congratulations to Tanis Lamoureux 14' for getting the nod as this weeks ECAC West Rookie of the Week!

The Soaring Eagles are on the road this upcoming weekend as they travel North to take on the Bengals of Buffalo in a rare back to back afternoon set. Special note that puck drop is at 4:00pm EST on Saturday and 1:00pm EST on Sunday. To date I am unable to find any webcast or audio of these games... so will assume that those not attending will be on the edge of their seats.... connected to Livestats. :)

As per the website... the Ice Arena (?) in Buffalo not only houses the Men's and Women's Buff State teams but is also home to the Men's hockey program of the Canisius College Golden Griffins who practice and play out of this same facility. Perhaps, this and the fact that the ice surface also serves as the practice facility for the Buffalo Sabres, houses the Buffalo Skating Club, offers General Public Skating and is the home for several youth and senior men's hockey leagues in the Buffalo area might well be the reason for the unusual start times of these two games. Seems to me it would be an ice schedulers nightmare and with all this going on we are probably lucky were not playing at midnight.

Not sure if EC gains any home away from home ice advantage through this... however it is note worthy that the Ice Arena is a familiar place to Coach Fargo as after graduation from EC he began his coaching career toiling for two seasons with the Canisius Men's team.

Good Luck to the Soaring Eagles as they Shuffle off to Buffalo...

EDIT: Further investigation into the Buff State Athletics site revealed a page with the following:

"Live streaming video will be available for all Men's and Women's regular season Hockey games."

Glad you enjoyed it Seyless...who read it to you? :)

I'm a journalist...why would you think I actually read ANYTHING a lawyer writes!! (BTW, nice job the Flames did with Anaheim last night! Fun watching Sutter twitch, spit, bark, swear...looked a little like Fargo this season! :))

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

Congratulations to Tori Charron as she is selected for both the ECAC West Player of the Week and Elmira College's athlete of the Week. Charron is most deserving of this recognition as with the help of her team mates currently is first in the nation in goals per game at 1.12, first in power play goals with 11, first in game winning goals with 6, first in rookie scoring with 1.50 points per game and second in points per game.

The Soaring Eagles play their final regular season game at home on Saturday against the # 2 ranked team in the nation. Puck drop is at 7:00pm EST on Saturday and can be seen on fasthockey.com.

Good luck as both teams end their regular season play on "Hockey Weekend across America"

More trustworthy than an oil/gin soaked legal beagle! :)

Even more trustworthy than a guy that post's then takes it down? What exactly were you trying to say in that post? Why did you take it down? Ahhh... that's what I thought Mr. Seyless....

I have no further questions for this perp...your honor. ;)

haha...good one! Perp...haha...been called a lot of things, that's a new one. All I have to say, Your Dishonour, is that "The Fix Is In"...EC's gonna tank this one (My HUMBLE opinion, that is.) I rest...(actually been resting for year and a half now.) ;)

Re: Elmira Soaring Eagles 2010/2011

The fix is in...!! Trust me.

Gawd Seyless this is rich. Now I see your polluting other threads with the same venom.

Let's be clear...this type of action would not be conducive to the standards set by Elmira College or the ECWH coaching staff.

Really, it's not like Elmira is some State run University or something....
