Mo'ville v EC Pt II
Mo'ville v EC Pt II
- Pitiful crowd ... only 250 at the anthem. Filled in later, but still embarrassing.
- Everett, an unfavorite on the ice, shows back up at the Domes. Spends waaaay too much time at the benches explaining inexplicable calls. Clearly blew an icing call in which a Mustang had outraced the defender, then calls a misconduct on the player who'd busted it to get there. After another questionable call giving EC a 5x3, threw out the Assistant Coach who said "That was a horsedung of a call"
- Some of the players who weren't dressed for the Consi game in Northfield got the message, and seemed to find their game. Gotta do more than just lace up the skates and expect to play every game. Kudos to coach. Thanks to the Cadets for demonstrating 60 minutes of effort.
- Best hustle play of the night: Willer, defending a 3x5, deflected a pass, beat the Mo'ville player to the puck, out raced two defenders down ice, and drew a penalty himself. He deserves All-American consideration
- Consorti had the skill play: at center ice, in traffic, somehow pirouetted 360, pulled the puck around, and got off a shot
- EC won a large percentage of the 1:1 battles along the boards, and created havoc in front of the net during the 1st, but with no puck luck
- Lee was a monster all night
- Edit: EC's power play didn't click. After sucking the defense to one side of the ice, the final opposite-side pass rarely found a stick, but usually the boards; hence 1 for 12
E1 - Scramble in front, all 3 forwards hacking at a rebound
M1 - PP, point blank shot which hit Darren, but found the net
E2 - Lee to Strale in the high slot who fired a wrister somehow with his back to the net. Goalie caught off-guard
E3 - Morrisette from Strale behind the net doing the dirty work
E4 - Morrisette from Strale on a TicTac Toe
E5 - Another dirty work scramble
Not a fan of Hosmer, the Potsdam transfer - Gritty player, but dirty. Check out his penalty contribution, (check from behind, boarding, hitting after the whistle, Misconduct) and performed a beautiful Greg Louganis to draw a non-existent trip.
