D'Arcy Oakes is an intriguing transfer. Put up some big numbers in the BCHL for the Power River Kings before going to Qunnipiac. Had 11 points in 22 games his freshman year. Might be one to watch this year for the Soaring Eagles.

This team is loaded on paper with a very strong senior class. If there was ever a year for a Elmira College men's hockey, THIS IS THE YEAR.

Oakes looks like he may be a good pick up, looks like the same points pattern as Oswego new transfer dman Josepher...big frsh yr then not much soph. yr

Since Primelink has no presence in the So Tier, that might be a bit of a stretch. Since the Star-Gazette is no longer a player, perhaps a joint venture called Prime-Runner or Road-Link? Any tips on getting tickets for either the Primelink or T-A??

Tickets go on sale 10 days before the games online.

I'll check on this again tomorrow to confirm.

The good thing about the PrimeLink and the Northfield Savings Bank tourneys is that both are when the students aren't here.

Middlebury hasn't drawn as many big crowds lately so I don't think tickets will be too tough for the PrimeLink this year.

I will probably be making a caravan trip from the Elmira trip Primelink weekend if people want to go. Planning on leaving early Friday morning to get there in time for the Plattsburgh tilt. Not sure on hotels yet, and will be coming home right after the Championship game Saturday. As long as the wife doesn't go into labor after eating Turkey dinner it should be a go.
 
OSU v EC

OSU v EC

- Nice crowd ... probably near 2,000 even with a Jackals home game.
- No clue why Vallaincort didn't dress, and Beckwith got pulled and never re-appeared on the bench after 1!?
- Strale's put on some meat, but lost his edge

Story of two games; period 1 vs periods 2&3
Game 1:
- OSU didn't get off the bus. 2-0 EC a couple of minutes in. Oswego's D seemed disinterested.
- Gilchrist took a 5 and a DQ for hitting from behind. EC couldn't score on a 2 man advantage nor the 5 minute. All downhill from there for EC.
Game 2:
- Oswego blocks everything or conversely EC shot and passed the puck into an opponent 60% of the time
- EC had no legs, stamina after period 1
- Terribly sloppy game for EC
- Heralded D1 transfer, not impressive
- Story of the game: OSU played okay team defense, EC played none

Yes, I was referring to EC's xfer. Josepher looked good, not great. Then again, hardly anyone looked great. flashes of effort followed by long stretches of malaise.

The "other" DI Oswego transfer (Hare) also looked good. Quite good, in fact. Gave-up quite a few 'little' rebounds, but none too dangerous.

There were many in the crowd who actually never even noticed Beckwith come-out and Hare come-in! I am embarrassed enough to say I was one of them. Post-game, I had a brief conversation with a few great Oswego fans that also did not notice. My statement - "Nice to have a guy like that in your back pocket!" :)

As usual, elbo nailed it (nicely done, again!). And to Remy's point in the scores thread - the Elmira PP was miserable. Either that, or Oswego's intense pressure (and I do mean intense) on the PK was effective. Elmira simply could not set anything up on the PP, as Oswego would not give them the chance. But then again, even 4 goals on the 5-min major wouldn't have been enough tonight.

Tomorrow's another day. Learn, and move-on. But LEARN!

thnks for the info, neither team played an exhibition game this yr, that may have had something to do with sloppy play/lakers asleep the 1st period/and elmira "no legs"....lets see what happens tonight

Need Grinders..... All skill is no good. since I have been around always had some role guys.Lots of skill and coaching there. No muckers..

I've got to say I was fairly impressed with the backup goalie, after they pulled McDonald in oswego. He came way out and played the Puck, very ballsy, but it worked, he cut off our odd-man rush and stopped a bad situation from getting worse. I imagine he has alot to prove with McDonald starting. I bet we'll see alot from him in the next few years.

I think they said/wrote he was the MVP in his jr league, and he did look pretty good in relief....

Took advantage of an off-nite to catch a Jackals home game. Absolute worst exhibition of children-on-ice-with-sticks I've ever witnessed in 39 years. 58 penalty minutes on one team when I left halfway through the third, and no more than 5 total minutes of 5x5 hockey. Hopefully the fans that deserted EC will weary of this type of 'entertainment' and give pure hockey another chance. The Devin (ex-Cornellian) penalty I've never seen before. Stay classy fellas! PS - Same two teams tomorrow with the same referee.

I gave up when I went to a game a few years ago and there was a goalie fight, in a 5-2 game with 3 minutes left and only one fight during the stoppage. Oh, and all the drunk hicks were really excited (surprise, surprise).

Anybody know the story on Matthew Herskovitz? Injured? Transfer to another school? Opt out of the college hockey scene?
