Just curious...Alot of optimism for UC this year. What do you guys expect from your team, not much being said about hockey here !

I'm expecting more from EC than last year. Too early to worry about it. Look at last years record before the break, then look at it after. One would expect a team (UC) that has played several games already this year to be a bit better "Jelled" than those who have just started thier season.

The Prez will be in Maine with SOCCER?!

Yup...that's right...Norwich men's soccer upset top-seeded Albertus Magnus 1-0 today to advance to the GNAC finals against St. Joseph's Maine. No hockey this wekeend for me.

Heard that Herskovitz wanted a more specific academic program to his interests and has transferred to Providence College, but can only start classes in January. He will sit out this year and try out for the team in the fall of 2012 with two potential years of eligibility left.

EC's compete level was much better against a good UC team and a hot goaltender. Two weeks of hard skating probably did the trick to get the rust out that was evident against OZ. Macdonald also was in last year's form in nets for EC.

Actually, facemasking was redefined last year to include the concept of "facewashing". So the actual rule now reads:

SECTION 14. Facemask
A.R.1: At a stoppage of play, a Team A player moves an open hand back and
forth (e.g., facewashing) on the face mask of a Team B player. RULING:
A major penalty must be assessed to the Team A player for face mask. A
player shall not grasp, push with an open hand or move an open hand back
and forth (e.g., facewashing) on the face mask of an opponent.

But in practice I've seen that any pretty much intentional movement of the hand toward the facemask is getting called facemasking.

Thanks for the ruling, first time I've heard of it.

So..Utica had 2 dirty faces and EC only had one then. Also noticed there were off setting dirty faces. :rolleyes:

According to the Athletics Dept, tickets for the Primelink Thanksgiving weekend tournament at Middlebury will be for sale at the ticket table at Saturday night's Neumann! game. They were unsure of the price, although the going rate for Middlebury games is $7.

Friday: 4:00 Norwich / Platts --- 7:00 M'bury / Elmira
Saturday: 4:00 Consolation --- 7:00 Championship

Tickets are $10 per day which covers both games. Just go to the Middlebury box office.
